A four-game Sunday wraps up another weekend of hockey in the NHL, and I’ve got my eyes on a couple of matchups in particular as the Devils look to pounce on the Ducks, while the Flyers could be poised for a high-scoring battle with the Canadiens.

Here are my favorite NHL player props and NHL picks for Sunday, October 27.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Nico Hischier anytime goalscorer

+153 at Pinnacle

Nico Hischier has always been known more for his two-way prowess than his goal-scoring, having hit the 30-goal mark just once in his career thus far, but the New Jersey Devils captain has gotten off to a red-hot start this year.

Hischier leads the club with eight goals and doesn’t seem to be benefiting from any kind of unsustainable trends, as his shooting percentage sits at a pretty reasonable 20.5%.

The center has been throwing nearly four pucks on net per game, which has certainly helped his production, and that trend should continue against a weak Anaheim Ducks squad.

The Ducks are actually one of the league’s best defensive teams by goals against, ranking sixth (2.57 GA/GP), but that comes down mostly to goaltending. They’ve given up tons of chances and sit 28th in the NHL in shots against per game (33.9), so Hischier should get some good looks.

Hischier has three goals in his last two games and has scored at least once in five of his last seven.

Prop bet #2: Matvei Michkov 2+ points

+300 at FanDuel

Matvei Michkov is already making his case as an early favorite for the Calder Trophy as the Philadelphia Flyers rookie has racked up four goals and nine points through eight games — tops among all first-year players.

Michkov had another productive game on Saturday, potting a goal and an assist in a 7-5 win for his Flyers and recording his second straight multi-point outing. In another potentially high-scoring game against the Montreal Canadiens, I like his chances of pushing that multi-point streak to three.

Montreal goalie Cayden Primeau carries a lowly .880 SV% and 4.21 GAA through three appearances, giving up 3+ goals in each of his outings. The Habs are also allowing 3.63 goals against per game as a team, which ranks fifth-worst in the NHL.

Michkov has been playing on the top line with Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny, who piled up five points apiece last night. I don’t expect quite that from the top line tonight, but I do foresee them combining on at least a couple of goals against a weak Habs defense.

Prop bet #3: Dougie Hamilton Over 3.5 shots

+104 at Pinnacle

Circling back on the Devils for my final pick of the night, I’ve got Dougie Hamilton to continue his high-volume shooting approach against the Canadiens.

As mentioned, Montreal has been porous defensively, surrendering 30+ shots in five straight games, including 45 against the Rangers on Tuesday. That plays nicely into Hamilton’s hands, as the Devils defenseman should have tons of room to let it rip.

Hamilton ranks third among all blueliners with 3.55 shots per game, tied with captain Nico Hischier for the team lead. The 6-foot-6 defender had just one shot on net in his last game against the Islanders, though he did fire five shot attempts, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Hamilton has recorded 4+ shots on net in four of his last five games and eight of 11 appearances this season.
