The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings are both looking to get back in the win column after losing games last night.
The Kings played in the afternoon, so they will have a little bit more of rest, and the Sharks also had to travel after last night's road game.
The Kings also need this game way more than the Sharks do, so we should see a dominant bounce-back performance from Los Angeles, as my Sharks vs. Kings predictions and NHL picks for Sunday, March 30 explain.
Sharks vs Kings prediction
My best bet: Kings -1.5 (-134 at FanDuel)
My analysis
Despite losing their last two straight games, the Los Angeles Kings have been one of the hottest teams in the entire NHL. The Kings are 9-5-1 in the month of March, but they have also been the best home-ice team in the league this season.
Los Angeles is 26-4-4 on home ice this season while the San Jose Sharks are 8-20-7 on the road.
Georgi Romanov will most likely start this game in goal for the Sharks since Alexandar Georgiev played last night and has started the previous three games. Romanov’s numbers have not been very pretty. He’s only gotten in two games this season and has four in his entire NHL career, but his two games this year are ones he’d like to forget. Romanov is skating to a .875 SV% and a 3.10 GAA.
For the Kings, they have plenty of guys who have been on a tear in the month of March like Kevin Fiala and Anze Kopitar, who each have tallied five goals. Fiala has led the team with 12 points in 15 games, while Kopitar has added 11 points in that span.
That said, Quinton Byfield has been money with his eight goals during this stretch. As a team, the Kings are only averaging 2.80 goals per game in March, but they’ve been defending incredibly well, allowing just 2.27 goals against per game while skating to a 82.6% success rate on the penalty kill.
The Kings have actually lost the two previous meetings against the Sharks this season, but both of those games were before the new year. The Kings have gotten much better as the year has progressed and tonight, they will show that.
Sharks vs Kings same-game parlay (SGP)
Byfield has had an incredible month of March, but was only able to tally one shot on goal in the game yesterday. Over his last five games, Byfield has had a minimum of two shots on goal in three of those contests. The Sharks aren’t a team that defends very well, so Byfield should get some looks.
Adrian Kempe is one of the most underrated players in the NHL and has now gone pointless in three straight games. He is too good of a player to be in a slump that continues like this, especially since he leads the team in points this season with 58. He is looking for his 30th goal of the season, and I have a feeling he gets it tonight.
