Borussia Dortmund are last year's runners-up in the competition but they are by no means the favourites in this much anticipated Champions League match.

Barcelona have looked fantastic since the start of 2025, winning 18 matches and drawing four. They are undefeated since December in all competitions. On the other hand, Dortmund went through a managerial change but continue having their ups and downs, so I can't see them troubling the Catalonian giants at home, in this Champions League QF first leg.

Here are my Barcelona vs. Borussia Dortmund predictions and free betting picks for Wednesday, April 9.

Barcelona vs Borussia Dortmund picks and predictions

My best bet: Barcelona to win first half (-134 at TonyBet)

My analysis
FC Barcelona inspire fear in all of their opponents.

They've been merciless in 2025, hitting the net three or more times during four straight matches. Their undefeated run of 22 games in 2025 included a 5-0 away win over Valencia in the Cup, a 7-1 LaLiga scoreline against the same opponent, then a 5-1 beating of Betis, as well as a 5-2 triumph over Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup.

Given Dortmund's many defensive liabilities, they need to put up a perfect match to contain the likes of Raphinha, Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal. Raphinha is the Champions League's top goalscorer, with his tally set at 11 goals in 10 games.

Barcelona have been leading at halftime in four of their last six games. Manager Hanski Flick insists on his team showing control and strength early, and that usually translates into goals.

As much as it's backed by stats, this prediction is also based on Barcelona's wish to settle things as much as possible on home soil before traveling to Dortmund for the return leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. They have the quality and inspiration to make things happen in the opposite box, and that should lead them to a comfortable lead.

Barcelona vs Borussia Dortmund same-game parlay (SGP)

Barcelona to win at halftime

Raphinha anytime goalscorer

Robert Lewandowski 2+ shots on goal

Raphinha is the leading marksman in the Champions League, with 11 goals in 10 games, and sits ahead of Bayern's Harry Kane and Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy. The Brazilian is hungry for more, and there might be context for more than one goal against Dortmund, who conceded at least one goal in each of their previous six games.

Robert Lewandowski, a familiar face for Dortmund, will probably ignore the fact that he spent four years at the club when they come visiting in Barcelona. Lewandowski will look for goals himself to add to the nine he netted already in the Champions League.

We'll have him included in our parlay, counting on him shooting on goal at least twice. Lewandowski averages 1.3 shots on goal in the Champions League this season.
