They have a chance to make that Iceland defeat a distant memory against a solid Serbia team, and if there’s one thing we know about England when it comes to tournaments is they always step up.
Serbia have always been dark horses, and this team again have a mix of some fairly average players with some great ones. However, you have to question how well they’ll do.
Aleksandar Mitrovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic were top-level players when we last saw them in Europe, but how will they be after a season in Saudi Arabia? Captain Dusan Tadic is also now 35 and playing in Turkey, while Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is likely to start on the bench, given a strike partnership of him and Mitrovic could unbalance the team. To put it simply, this is a team that England should do well against.
It's irrelevant to really consider friendlies as players are more concerned about their fitness rather than the result — so let’s look at the qualifying campaign for England. They went unbeaten and tended to start games quickly, winning at the interval in five of eight outings.
It’s worth noting England failed to play their best starting lineup in either of the warmup games to this tournament, meaning the team we see on Sunday should be stronger and ready to take the game to Serbia from the start.

Kane is the greatest goalscorer in England's history, leading the country’s scoring charts ahead of greats like Wayne Rooney, Bobby Charlton, and Alan Shearer. He’s scored 63 times in the shirt of England in just 91 games, which shows his talent.
What’s most important is he comes into Euro 2024 on the back of a stellar season for his club Bayern Munich, scoring 36 times in just 32 Bundesliga games. He also added a further eight goals in Bayern’s 12 appearances in the Champions League.
Kane has incredible movement around the box and his exceptional reading of the game allows him to often find space and — more often than not — score. He’ll be the man to lead England to another win in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday.
