Athens’ Olympic Stadium is set to host a key Nations League clash between Greece and England, as both teams battle for the top spot in their group.
While Greece emerged victorious in their previous meeting last month, the depth and quality of the England squad will be the difference in my Greece vs. England predictions.

Greece vs England picks and predictions
My best bet:
England moneyline (-108 at TonyBet)
My analysis
We have a big game at the top of Group 2 in UEFA Nations League B between Greece and England. England were heavy favorites to win this group and have won three of their four games. However, the lone loss was to this very Greece side in a shock 2-1 defeat at Wembley in October.
That game wasn’t just a lucky win for Greece, they deserved it. England went into that game with Harry Kane injured and interim manager Lee Carsley decided to experiment and try and formation with a false-nine. It backfired spectacularly and they lost comfortably and were lucky to escape with a one-goal defeat, with Greece having another three goals disallowed.
England also comes into this game missing a huge amount of their regular starters with Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo, and John Stones all out of this game.
Despite all of that, the -108 available on England to win is well worth backing. With Greece being three points ahead of England, and playing Finland in their final game, it’s probable that a draw would be enough for Greece to secure the top spot in Nations League B Group 2. That’s likely to inform how they play and they’ll set up with a 4-2-3-1 formation and look to frustrate England and hit them on the counter. England were surprised by how much Greece attacked at Wembley and a more defensive approach would play into their hands.
Despite England missing key players they still have a huge amount of quality and are better than Greece in the majority of positions. Having Harry Kane back leading the line will help the Three Lions and they play better with a proper striker as a focal point, rather than using a false nine. Even with the injuries, they’re likely to field Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon, and Noni Madueke behind Kane, an attack mixing speed and guile. We’re also likely to see Angel Gomes in midfield and Carsley’s England have played better when he’s able to dictate the tempo in the middle of the field
With Thomas Tuchel taking charge of England in the new year it means that a number of these players who aren’t superstars, such as the aforementioned Gomes and the likes of Rico Lewis, Marc Guehi, and Conor Gallagher, will be doing their very best to show why they should continue to be included within the England squad. The eyes of the new manager will be upon them, even if he’s not in the stadium itself.
With England’s depth in quality and the opportunity to not only exact revenge for October’s 2-1 defeat, and impress the incoming Tuchel, they should be able to do enough to secure the three points and ensure we won’t know the group winner until Sunday’s final slate of games.
Greece vs England same-game parlay (SGP)
In addition to our best bet we’re also going to bet on Harry Kane to score. The England captain has been on fire this season. He’s 17 goals in 15 games between the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League. He’s bagged 68 goals in 101 games for England and can always be relied upon to score for his country.
Then to wrap up the Same-Game Parlay we’re backing Both teams to score. England will be better than when they played against each other a month ago. However, England did allow two goals and were shaky at the back with three other Greek goals being disallowed. Greece have scored at least two goals in each of the four Nations League game this week and will likely get on the scoresheet here.
