Tottenham vs Man City picks and predictions
There’s nothing like the FA Cup and this week sees the fourth round begin, with Tottenham vs Man City arguably being the tie of the round. That game takes place on Friday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and pits two of the Premier League teams form teams against one another. The FA Cup is the oldest national soccer competition in the world, having been formed 153 years ago in 1871, and is still loved by fans and clubs alike.
Normally it’s hard to get excited about seeing all-Premier League games but when they feature two of the league’s biggest clubs that doesn’t apply. Spurs are fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind second-place Man City, with both clubs in pursuit of Liverpool who are at the summit.
My best bet for Spurs vs Man City is for Man City to win and Over 2.5 goals in the game. So let’s get stuck into why this is the best to be placing on Friday’s game.
Firstly, let’s look at Man City winning. It’s -163 on the moneyline, which is too short and the reason why I didn’t pick that market. These are two of the Premier League’s form teams, with both Spurs and Man City having matching records in their past six games, with four wins, one draw, and one loss each. That said Man City looks like a team reborn.
They struggled earlier in the season, perhaps feeling the hangover after winning the treble last year. There were questions asked of whether Pep Guardiola’s team had lost their hunger. It certainly looked that way but they’ve improved as the season has progressed and are now the team most likely to stop Liverpool winning the league.
They’re still likely to be without Erling Haaland up front but that shouldn’t matter. Julian Alvarez has impressed this season and then there’s the return of Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian returned from a long-term injury and almost instantly got Man City purring and playing at the level we expect from there. He’s an incredible player and he’ll be starring on Friday, something which should scare Spurs.
Spurs are a good team but at their best, they aren’t as good as Man City are when they’re at their peak. If this was a full-strength Tottenham team I’d say they had half a chance at home but without the injured James Maddison creating chances and Son Heung-Min, away on international duty, they simply can’t compare.
I’m also backing Over 2.5 goals. Man City have had Over 2.5 goals in 81.8% of their Premier League games this season and in their sole FA Cup game this season they beat Huddersfield 5-0. In fact, Over 2.5 goals have landed in eight of City’s past nine games in all competitions.
We’ve also seen 80% of Spurs’ home games in the Premier League hit that Over 2.5 goal mark, including their last six at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. You can be confident of two things in this game, a Man City win and goals. So back both.
My best bet: Man City moneyline + Over 2.5 goals (-103 at TonyBet)

Tottenham vs Man City same-game parlay
First up it’s backing Man City to win. This is one of the world’s best teams and in my opinion the very best, both in terms of playing staff and manager. They are very hard to beat and in recent weeks they’ve really begun to find their form, which should scare the rest of Europe.
Then we’re going to back Over 2.5 goals, both clubs are frequently involved in high-scoring games. City have incredible players in those advanced positions who help them score a lot of goals, while Spurs play an attacking style that ensures entertainment and goals at both ends. So we’re going to take Over 2.5 goals too.
Finally, we are backing Spurs’ Argentine central defender Cristian Romero to get booked. A renowned hothead he’s picked up five cards in 16 Premier League games this season including one red. He’s very rash in the challenge and can be temperamental. This is a big game for both him and Spurs as they face a truly brilliant team and I expect his enthusiasm and passion to get the better of him and for him to get booked.

Tottenham vs Man City side and Over/Under analysis
It’s been mentioned above but Man City to win is the bet to make here. However, odds of -163 don’t appeal to me and despite the fact I think it’s a bet that wins, I can’t recommend it to you. If you fancy a Spurs win you can get +370 or +335 on a draw. With no Maddison or Son, I can’t see either of those happening, especially with Kevin De Bruyne back playing for City.
We’ve also covered why Over 2.5 goals is the bet to be making on the Total Goals market. Both teams score a lot and neither are rock solid defensively, with City also not looking as good at the back as they have been in previous years. At -213 I can’t recommend betting Over 2.5 goals though, the odds are simply too short, and I don’t believe in it hitting Under which you could get at +170. The best way to tackle this game, as my best bet explains, is to parlay Man City winning with Over 2.5 goals, which at -103 feels like value.
