West Ham vs Brighton Predictions and Picks: Hammers Drop Multiple Goals on Seagulls

West Ham has exceled on both ends of the pitch this season, but our soccer betting picks believe their offense can carry the day when Brighton brings a sub-par defense to London Stadium on Tuesday.

West Ham ended 2023 on a high after back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Arsenal, and they’ll look to stay in red-hot form as they host Brighton on Tuesday.

The Hammers climbed into the Top 6 with a 2-0 London derby win at the Emirates on Thursday thanks to goals from Tomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos, and their December results are set to be a launchpad for the second half of the season.

But Brighton have lofty goals too and bring some confidence of their own after an impressive 4-2 win over Tottenham on Thursday. The Seagulls have lost just one of their last five league outings.

Read on for our free West Ham vs. Brighton picks and predictions ahead of this Tuesday, January 2 showdown.

West Ham vs Brighton best odds

EPL predictions for West Ham vs Brighton

The arrow is pointing up for the Hammers after a terrific finish to December. Setting aside the no-show in the Carabao Cup against Liverpool, West Ham have caught the eye at both ends of the field.

With four clean sheets in their last five outings, and two or more goals scored in each of those contests, Moyes’ men have crashed the race for European qualification. It’s the Hammers’ clinical streak that I’m riding with here, as they try to build on 2-0 victories over Manchester United and Newcastle.

The trends point to the hosts putting on a show on Tuesday. They’ve scored two or more goals in four of their last five home games and now face a Brighton team who haven’t kept a single clean sheet in the Premier League this season.

Even in the dominant win over Tottenham last week, the Seagulls still conceded two late goals, and their adventurous approach brings pros and cons. One of the drawbacks is defensive vulnerability, and they’ll be without the suspended Lewis Dunk at London Stadium.

With Jarrod Bowen on fire, I like these odds for the Hammers to make their chances count here, and I’m picking the Over on 1.5 goals for the hosts against this depleted Brighton team.

James Ward-Prowse anytime assist

I’ve flagged Brighton’s lack of clean sheets above as a key factor in picking the Hammers to create chances, but the visitors remain a threat at the other end of the pitch.

They’ve scored in 17 of their last 18 games in all competitions, with Joao Pedro among the key threats, including two penalties and an assist against Tottenham.

I’m also taking the odds for James Ward-Prowse to add to his assist tally here. As the Hammers’ main man on free-kicks and corners, he’s one of the Premier League’s best set-piece wizards, and the hosts have some towering targets for the former Southampton man to pick out.

Ward-Prowse has six assists in league play so far this season, and it was his corner that set up Mavropanos’ header against Arsenal last time out.

West Ham vs Brighton side and Over/Under analysis

This Tuesday fixtures arrives with both West Ham and Brighton in sizzling form and hungry to take advantage of slip-ups from Manchester United and Newcastle in the race for the Top 6.

The Hammers start as slight favorites, which makes sense on the heels of the road win over Arsenal. That win was Moyes’ first victory against the Gunners in 23 meetings.

But the sportsbooks are also showing respect for Brighton’s ability to cause problems. Pervis Estupinan is back from injury down the left side, and the Seagulls blew Tottenham away last time out.

Keep in mind, though, that they lucked into facing a patched-up Tottenham defense that day, while West Ham have been terrific at the back in their last two games.

Brighton’s injury list is the other major worry in picking the visitors to get a result. Dunk’s absence is a real blow, and the Seagulls will also miss the direct running of Mitoma and March.

Still, this set up to be a frenetic, end-to-end matchup. The teams’ meeting back in August finished as a 3-1 win for the Hammers, and Brighton don’t exactly specialize in cagey, one-goal victories.

That said, Brighton have hit the Under on 2.5 total goals in four of their last five contests, while West Ham have kept three straight clean sheets in Premier League action.
