Man City are one of the giants of European soccer, but they’ve been in poor form. Ipswich are capable of impressive defending, especially at home. That’s why my Ipswich vs. Man City predictions have the game finishing Under 2.5 goals.

My analysis
When Ipswich Town got promoted from the Championship, there would have been a lot of games that their supporters were excited for, and the chance to welcome the reigning Premier League champions to Portman Road would have been one of them. That game has finally arrived, but the landscape probably isn’t quite as those fans would have expected.
Ipswich are in a relegation dogfight, as they would have expected if they were being honest with themselves, but nobody would have expected Man City to be a languishing sixth in the Premier League.
The Citizens came in as short-priced favorites to retain their title yet again, but they’ve struggled all season. The injury to Rodri almost certainly damaged the team, with the Spaniard suffering an ACL tear.
They’ve won less than half of their games and look a shadow of the team they’ve been over the past decade. They’ve only scored 38 goals in 21 games, which is good but nowhere near the standards expected of this team.
Those struggles in front of goal are one of the reasons that I’m backing Under 2.5 goals in this game. While Erling Haaland is a great goalscorer, the team haven’t been creating as many opportunities as usual for him and his form has suffered.
Beyond the Norwegian, we’re not seeing many goals for the likes of Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, or Bernardo Silva, who have all contributed heavily in the past. City have only scored three or more goals once in their past six Premier League games, something we used to see them do regularly. Incredibly, they’ve scored two or fewer goals in 10 of their 11 road games this season.
So with City struggling for goals, let’s look at Ipswich. The newly-promoted side have attempted to turn Portman Road into a fortress, looking to keep games tight at home and grind out points. They’ve played excellently at home at times but what’s hugely impressive is that they’ve only conceded more than two goals once in 11 games at home.
With Under 2.5 landing in eight of 11 games at Portman Road and this Man City team lacking their usual scoring threat, the Under is the play.

In addition to the best bet, I’m also going to back Ipswich to win or draw in the Double Chance market. Man City haven’t been as strong as usual away from home this season, winning just four of their 11 EPL games on the road. Given their struggles, we could see Ipswich grab something from this one.
The final leg of this SGP is for Ipswich to have the most booking points. Man City are routinely one of the most disciplined teams in the Premier League and this season is no different, with the team having just 41 cards, the second fewest in the division. Meanwhile, Ipswich have the third-most with 57.
