MILWAUKEE -- Keon Broxton drove in four runs and finished a double short of the cycle as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Boston Red Sox 11-7 Tuesday night at Miller Park.
Mookie Betts had four hits and also drove in four runs for Boston, but right-hander Drew Pomeranz (3-2) lasted only four innings, his shortest outing of the season. He allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
A game-opening home run from Betts gave Pomeranz an early lead, but Eric Thames made up for it in the bottom of the inning with a two-run home run, his 13th long ball of the season.
Ryan Braun doubled and scored on Travis Shaw's base hit. After Pomeranz got his first out of the inning on Domingo Santana's fly ball to right, Manny Pina reached on a fielder's choice and Broxton made it a 5-1 game with a two-run blast.
Broxton made it 6-1 in the fourth when he led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on an error then scored on Orlando Arcia's single.
The Red Sox got to Brewers starter Wily Peralta in the fifth. Chase d'Arnaud, pinch-hitting for Pomeranz, reached on a one-out single and scored on Betts' double to the corner in left. Dustin Pedroia followed with a double to right that scored Betts, cutting the deficit to 6-3 and chasing Peralta.
Andrew Benintendi got the Red Sox within two on a double off Carlos Torres (2-3), who got Chris Young on a grounder to end the inning.
Broxton struck again in the seventh with a two-run double to right that gave Milwaukee an 11-5 lead. Boston got those two runs back in the eighth on Betts' double to left.
Peralta worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Torres pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the win.
