PHOENIX -- Chris Herrmann hit a walk-off single with one out in the 10th inning to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday at Chase Field.
Reymond Fuentes singled to open the 10th inning off Matt Bowman (1-3) before pinch hitter Zack Godley sacrificed Fuentes to second. Herrmann followed with his game-winning hit.
The D-backs have 28 comeback victories this season.
Arizona (50-28) extended its franchise-record start with its 13th victory in 15 games. The D-backs are 30-10 at home.
David Peralta tied the game with a leadoff homer in the ninth inning off Cardinals closer Seung Hwan Oh.
Arizona got close with two runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Daniel Descalso and a sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Herrmann, on which left fielder Randal Grichuk made a diving catch with the bases loaded.
Right-hander Fernando Rodney (2-2) pitched the 10th for the victory. He has not given up a hit in his past 10 appearances and has not given up an earned run in his past 19.
St. Louis scored three runs on three hits and three errors for a 5-2 lead in the seventh inning. Luke Voit singled before throwing errors by catcher Chris Iannetta and pitcher Taijuan Walker loaded the bases.
Stephen Piscotty singled off Walker's leg to drive in one run before Jedd Gyorko's sacrifice fly. Shortstop Nick Ahmed bobbled a relay throw after Yadier Molina's single to enable another run to score for a 5-2 lead.
Gyorko drove in two runs for the Cardinals (35-41), who have lost four of six.
St. Louis starter Carlos Martinez gave up two runs on four hits in six innings. He struck out 10 and walked three.
Walker, Arizona's starting pitcher, gave up five runs (three earned) and six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked five and did not have any strikeouts.
Matt Carpenter walked to open the first inning and took third on Tommy Pham's single. Carpenter stayed at third on a fly out before Pham stole second.
Carpenter scored on what would have been a double-play grounder by Gyorko if Pham did not steal second.
St. Louis took a 2-0 lead by scoring without a hit in the sixth inning. Piscotty and Gyorko walked and pulled a double steal. Grichuk was intentionally walked with one out before Paul DeJong hit a sacrifice fly.
NOTES: Arizona recalled RHP Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno before the game and optioned RHP Silvino Bracho to Reno. ... Arizona OF Yasmany Tomas (groin) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona League on Tuesday. The D-backs are 15-5 without Tomas, who has been out since June 3. ... The Cardinals had a 15-game home run streak broken. It was the longest active streak in with majors.
