PHOENIX -- Paul Goldschmidt, Adam Rosales and Chris Herrmann homered and Robbie Ray struck out 10 as the Arizona Diamondbacks sent the Los Angeles Dodgers to their season-worst fourth straight defeat, 6-4, at Chase Field on Wednesday.
Rosales and Goldschmidt homered in a three-run first inning and Ray gave up one run in 6 2/3 innings in his first home start since July 23. He missed 26 days after being struck in the head by a line drive July 28.
Curtis Granderson homered for the Dodgers (91-40), who lost a second straight series for the first time this season. They had lost three games in a row three times.
Herrmann and Ray had two hits apiece and every starter had at least one hit as the Diamondbacks (75-58) won their sixth straight and moved three games ahead of Colorado in the National League wild-card race.
Ray (11-5) gave up four hits and one run. He walked two while lowering his ERA to 2.97, which would be fifth in the league. He is three innings short of qualifying.
The Dodgers scored three runs in the eighth inning to cut it to 6-4 -- on two singles, three walks and a hit batter. The Dodgers left the bases loaded when Archie Bradley got out of it on a strikeout and groundout.
Fernando Rodney pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 34th save, his seventh in nine games and 10 days.
Rosales homered with one out in the bottom of the first inning, off Hyun-Jin Ryu, before Pollock walked and Goldschmidt followed with his 33rd homer of the season, his third in as many games.
Arizona scored eight runs in the first inning of the first two games of the series. Pollock homered in the five-run first inning of a 7-6 victory on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, J.D. Martinez walked with two outs in the fourth inning and scored on Brandon Drury's double off the center-field fence for a 4-0 lead.
Herrmann homered to lead off the two-run fourth. Ray and David Peralta singled, and Pollock drove in Ray after a double-play grounder for a 6-0 lead.
Ryu gave up eight hits and six runs in four innings. He struck out three and walked two. He had been 3-0 with seven no-decisions in his last 10 starts.
NOTES: Dodgers SS Corey Seager (elbow) did not start for the second consecutive game. He grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning. ... Dodgers RHP Brock Stewart will be recalled when rosters expand Friday and is to start the first game of a Saturday doubleheader against San Diego, manager Dave Roberts said. RHP Yu Darvish already had been announced as the starter in the second game. ... Arizona RHP Zack Greinke will face his former team in the series finale Thursday. Greinke is 0-2 with a 6.17 ERA in two starts against them this season and is 1-4 with a 5.83 ERA in five starts since joining the Diamondbacks before the 2016 season.
