Washington Nationals vs Philadelphia Phillies Match Player Stats On Jul 26, 2021

Andrew McCutchen hit a walk-off, three-run home run off closer Brad Hand and the host Philadelphia Phillies rallied for a 6-5 victory over the Washington Nationals on Monday.

Rhys Hoskins also hit a three-run homer for the Phillies, who moved over .500 at 50-49 to crawl within 3 1/2 games of the first-place New York Mets in the National League East.

Didi Gregorius, Jean Segura and McCutchen had two hits apiece. Bryce Harper walked three times and scored a pair of runs.

Phillies starter Spencer Howard lasted only 3 2/3 innings and allowed six hits and four runs to go along with two strikeouts and no walks. Howard reportedly left with a blister on his right middle finger.

Archie Bradley (5-1) earned the win in relief.

Josh Bell tripled and drove in two runs while Josh Harrison added an RBI triple for the Nationals.

Tres Barrera, Trea Turner and Alcides Escobar contributed two hits each for the Nationals, who have dropped five in a row.

Nationals starter Joe Ross gave up three hits in five scoreless innings. Ross, who was making his first start since July 4, struck out four and walked two before leaving the game after just 72 pitches.

Hand (5-5) took the loss after allowing McCutchen's homer, recording just one out in the ninth.

The Phillies loaded the bases with one out in the first inning and Jean Segura was thrown out at home trying to score on a fly ball to right field by Hoskins. Segura was initially called safe, but the play was reversed after a review.

The Nationals managed only one hit through the first three innings, a single by Barrera.

In the fourth, the Nationals opened with consecutive singles before Juan Soto grounded into a double play. But Bell and Harrison responded with back-to-back RBI triples for a 2-0 lead. Gerardo Parra and Victor Robles each hit an RBI single and Washington's advantage moved to 4-0.

Jose Alvarado loaded the bases in the sixth on walks, but pinch hitter Ryan Zimmerman lined out to center to end the threat.

The Phillies cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth when Hoskins blasted a three-run homer to left off reliever Austin Voth.

In the eighth, the Phillies placed runners at first and second with two outs, but pinch hitter Alec Bohm struck out looking against Daniel Hudson on a 99 mph fastball.

Bell added an RBI in the ninth for a 5-3 advantage.
