HR picks for April 13
Wilmer Flores (+450 at Caesars)
San Fransico Giants 1B Wilmer Flores has already hit one bomb this weekend for the Giants, and he could launch another today against New York Yankees lefty Carlos Rodon.
Flores has crushed five home runs already this season. He’s hit two of those five bombs against lefties, and 65 of his 158 career jacks have come against southpaws.
Rodon has always had trouble with right-handed lumber. All three of his home runs allowed this season have come against righties, and 121 of his career 140 jacks allowed have come from the right side of the plate.
With Rodon’s propensity to serve one up, I like Flores’ chances of launching one today with the wind blowing out.
Gunnar Henderson (+400 at Caesars)
The wind’s blowing out to right-center, which is more than optimal for Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson to crush his first home run of the season.
Henderson blasted a career-high 37 bombs in 2024, but he’s opened the season with a miserable .160 batting average and a dozen strikeouts across 29 at-bats.
That could change today. Toronto Blue Jays righty Jose Berrios is on the bump, and he’s been known to serve one up to left-handed lumber.
Berrios’ slurve is still highly effective, but hitters are pulling 40% of his offerings, and his 37% fly ball rate with that wind could lead to one leaving the yard.
Henderson is a dead-pull hitter in a slump with the wind blowing out, and I like him to jack his first bomb of the season against Toronto.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+480 at Caesars)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is still seeking his first home run of the season, and with the wind blowing out and a lefty on the mound, today could be the day.
Vladdy Jr. has crushed 128 of his 160 career bombs off left-handed pitching, and he has a good chance today against Orioles southpaw Cade Povich.
Povich has a clean sheet this season, but he has coughed up 1.20 home runs per nine during his career, and one of those bombs was to Guerrero.
In fact, Guerrero is 4-for-5 lifetime with a home run and a pair of doubles against the Orioles lefty, and with the wind blowing out, Vladdy Jr. has an excellent opportunity to go yard today.
