Brendan Rodgers homered and later hit a go-ahead double in a five-run ninth inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Texas Rangers 9-5 in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday.
Connor Joe also had two hits and Jhoulys Chacin (3-1) worked two innings for the win. Rockies starter Kyle Freeland left in the second inning due to a left hip impingement.
Jose Trevino, Leody Taveras and Yohel Pozo had two hits each for Texas (47-86), which committed four errors in the ninth. Joe Barlow (0-2) gave up all five runs -- two earned -- in the ninth whole allowing just one hit and two walks.
The winning rally started when Elias Diaz and Joe walked with one out. Rodgers doubled to drive in Diaz and pinch runner Garrett Hampson to put Colorado (61-72) ahead.
Charlie Blackmon reached on an error by first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, and a Charlie Culberson throwing error on a grounder to third by Trevor Story allowed two more runs to score.
Hyeon-jong Yang replaced Barlow, and two more errors by Lowe on Ryan McMahon's grounder brought home Story.
Texas took command early when Freeland left after walking Lowe to lead off the second inning. He faced five batters total, allowing two walks and no hits and striking out one.
The Rangers took advantage as Nick Solak singled and Culberson followed with a walk to load the bases. Pozo singled to left to drive in Lowe but Joe threw out Solak at home for the first out.
Trevino walked to reload the bases, and Ben Bowden relieved Justin Lawrence. Taveras hit a two-run double and Isiah Kiner-Falefa drove in two more with a single to make it 5-0.
Rodgers hit a solo homer in the fourth off of Kohei Arihara, his 11th of the season. Arihara was replaced by Wes Benjamin, who walked Blackmon and gave up a single to Story to put runners on the corners. Blackmon scored on McMahon's single to make it 5-2.
The Rockies added two more in the fifth. Sam Hilliard walked, Joe doubled and a wild pitch brought home Hilliard. Blackmon hit into a force play to drive in Joe and make it 5-4.
