Tyler Gilbert allowed just two hits in 5 1/3 innings, both solo homers, as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the host Seattle Mariners 5-4 in an interleague game Sunday afternoon.
Ketel Marte homered for the Diamondbacks (47-96), who won consecutive games for the first time since Aug. 26-27 and took their first series since sweeping visiting Philadelphia in a three-game set on Aug. 17-19.
Mitch Haniger, Dylan Moore and Jarred Kelenic went deep for the Mariners (77-66), who dropped three games back in the chase for the American League's second and final wild-card playoff berth.
The Diamondbacks' Henry Ramos broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run double in the sixth inning.
The left-handed Gilbert (2-2), who threw a no-hitter in his first major league start Aug. 14 against San Diego, gave up leadoff homers to Haniger in the fourth inning and Moore in the sixth. The left-hander walked one and struck out two.
Right-hander J.B. Wendelken pitched the ninth for his first major league save despite allowing a two-run shot to Kelenic.
Mariners left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, the team's lone All-Star Game representative, went five innings and allowed one run on six hits. He walked one and struck out eight.
Lefty Anthony Misiewicz (4-5) took the loss as he failed to record an out after relieving Kikuchi to start the sixth inning.
Christian Walker led off by grounding a single into left field and David Peralta lined a double to right. Ramos then lined a double into the gap in left-center field to score both runners and Seth Beer followed with a run-scoring single to right to make it 4-1.
The Diamondbacks took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as Beer led off with a double, moved to third on a groundout and scored on Josh VanMeter's single to center.
The Mariners tied it when Haniger homered to center, his 32nd of the season.
Moore's homer to left in the sixth pulled the Mariners within 4-2.
Marte's solo shot off right-hander Erik Swanson in the seventh gave Arizona a 5-2 advantage.
