Blue Jays Picks, Predictions & Best Bets vs the Red Sox for April 9

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is in line to rack up a couple of bases today against Tanner Houck, who has struggled vs. Vladdy in his career.

Impressive starting pitching and a couple of hot bats have helped the Toronto Blue Jays take the first two games of their four-game set against the Boston Red Sox.

And I’m betting another bat heats up as the Jays go for the series win when they take the field at Fenway Park tonight.

My Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks bring you a player prop and a same-game parlay for this American League East showdown.

Blue Jays predictions for April 9

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Vladdy Goes Base Collecting

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+105 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays will have a great opportunity to take the series against Boston as Kevin Gausman toes the rubber against Tanner Houck at Fenway Park tonight.

Gausman has been solid, if unspectacular, over his first two starts of the season, allowing five runs on just five hits over 11 1/3 innings pitched.

Houck’s start has been a little more rocky. The RHP has allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits in 9 2/3 innings, and he won’t be happy to see the Jays’ big bats.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and Anthony Santander combine for a .323 xBA and a .470 xSLG vs. Houck, and tonight I want to focus on Vladdy.

The Blue Jays superstar, who signed his massive extension earlier in the week, has yet to go yard this season. However, the signs are there.

He’s had a good approach at the plate, going hitless just four times in 12 games, and while his batting average is just .255, his xBA is .314 and in the 90th percentile. Additionally, he ranks in the 91st percentile in both hard-hit percentage and bat speed. So, he’s making a lot of good contact.

As noted, Vladdy has had some great at-bats vs. Houck. He’s gone 5-for-17 in his career against him with two doubles. That’s good for a .322 xBA and a .611 xSLG.

I’m unsure if Vladdy goes yard tonight, but he'll hit the ball hard a few times.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases

Tanner Houck Over 2.5 earned runs

I said yesterday we will ride this George Springer hot streak until it comes off the tracks. Springer tallied another two hits last night, including a Springer Dinger, upping his batting average to an MLB-best .459.

Springer has collected two or more total bases in eight of the last nine games he's started.

Houck has looked shaky to start the season and has allowed three or more runs in both of his starts. I like the top of the Blue Jays lineup to do some damage tonight and send him Over this number for the third straight game.
