San Diego Padres left-hander Blake Snell continued his mastery of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Xander Bogaerts had four hits, including a two-run home run, and three RBIs in a 10-5 victory Friday in Phoenix.
The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Padres, whose offensive outburst Friday matched the run total they scored during that stretch.
Arizona's losing streak is now at nine games. The Diamondbacks are 7-25 in their last 32 games.
Snell, who entered the game 4-1 with a 0.84 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against the Diamondbacks, allowed only two hits in six innings while striking out seven and walking four.
The Diamondbacks struck first against Snell (9-8) in the first inning after Snell walked the first two batters and gave up a run-scoring double to Christian Walker with one out.
San Diego took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning on Bogaerts' two-run home run, his 12th of the season, with no outs off Arizona starter Ryne Nelson (6-7).
The Padres mounted a 6-1 lead in the third inning. Juan Soto's triple scored Fernando Tatis Jr., who had singled with one out and stole second base. Manny Machado then singled, scoring Soto to put San Diego ahead 4-1.
Jake Cronenworth then hit a two-run home run with two outs, his 10th this year.
After Walker's double in the first, Arizona did not get another hit off Snell until Ketel Marte led off the sixth inning with a home run.
With one out in the eighth inning, the Diamondbacks doubled their hit production to that point with consecutive singles by Carson Kelly and Marte. With two outs, Tommy Pham belted a three-run home run off Steven Wilson to cut the lead to 7-5.
Pham, acquired from the New York Mets before the trade deadline last week, hit his first home run for the Diamondbacks and his 11th overall this season.
San Diego rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning behind an RBI double by Tatis and run-scoring singles by Soto and Bogaerts.
