Justin Bour hit two home runs and the Los Angeles Angels defeated the visiting Cincinnati Reds 5-1 to sweep the two-game series on Wednesday night in Anaheim, Calif.
Bour hit a solo shot in the fifth inning to tie the score at 1-1, and a two-out, three-run shot in the eighth to make it 5-1 after the previous batter, David Fletcher, drove in the go-ahead run with an infield single.
Shohei Ohtani had three hits for the Angels, who have won three in a row.
Angels right-hander Jaime Barria was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to make the start and he allowed one run and three hits in five innings. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
Trevor Cahill, the Opening Day starter for the Angels, came off the 10-day injured list with elbow inflammation and threw two shutout innings of relief. Cam Bedrosian (3-3) pitched a scoreless eighth for Los Angeles before Ty Buttrey worked the ninth.
Tanner Roark went 5 1/3 innings for the Reds, allowing one run and four hits while striking out six and walking two.
Yasiel Puig led off the fifth inning with a line-drive homer to center field to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.
Bour, in the starting lineup for the first time since June 19, led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer.
Both teams were unable to take advantage of several scoring opportunities during the game, and it appeared the Angels might let one slip away in the eighth when they put runners on the corners with no outs.
Reds closer Raisel Iglesias (1-7) got Justin Upton to ground out to third, keeping Mike Trout at third and moving Ohtani to second. Brian Goodwin then struck out, bringing up Fletcher, who grounded a ball into the hole on the left side. Reds shortstop Jose Iglesias backhanded the ball, but didn't make a throw and Trout scored the go-ahead run.
