Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval and Kevin Pillar all homered in the sixth inning as the visiting San Francisco Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 on Wednesday.
Austin Slater added two hits for the Giants, who capped a torrid July by going 19-6 in the month.
Giants starter Jeff Samardzija (8-8) was stellar in his six innings, giving up just three hits and no runs. He walked one and struck out five. The Giants had a thin bullpen since the club made a flurry of trades before the deadline earlier in the day.
Phillies starter Vince Velasquez (3-6) tossed five-plus innings and allowed four hits and two runs. He walked three and struck out six.
Jean Segura had a pair of hits for the Phillies, who managed only five overall.
The Giants loaded the bases with one out in the third inning, but Mike Yastrzemski and Posey each struck out swinging to end the threat.
Bryce Harper walked with one out in the fourth for the Phillies. J.T. Realmuto then flied out to center and Scott Kingery also flied out to center, each hitting the first pitch from Samardzija.
The game remained scoreless after five innings as both teams had just three hits each.
Yastrzemski opened the sixth with a walk, and Posey followed with a homer to left field, his sixth home run of the season, for a 2-0 San Francisco lead and chasing Velasquez.
Sandoval then went back-to-back, hitting Adam Morgan's second pitch out to right center.
It was the fourth time this season that the Giants have hit back-to-back homers. Later in the sixth, Pillar added a two-run home run for a 5-0 lead.
Harper walked for the second time to lead off the seventh, and Realmuto doubled to put runners at second and third. Adam Haseley's groundout scored Harper to get within 5-1.
In the ninth, the Giants loaded the bases with one out. But they weren't able to add onto the lead as Yastrzemski struck out and Posey grounded out.
In a non-save situation, Giants closer Will Smith retired the Phillies in order in the ninth.
