CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Frank Kaminsky came off the bench to score 24 points, and the Charlotte Hornets snapped a three-game losing streak with a 109-91 victory over the short-handed New York Knicks on Monday night at the Spectrum Center.
The Hornets raced to a 25-point lead in the first half, outscoring the Knicks 29-10 in the first 10 minutes of the second quarter. Kaminsky had 15 at the half and finished the night 10 of 13 from the field with four 3-pointers. He hit his first eight shots from the field.
The Hornets (11-19) had lost 10 of their previous 12.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Marvin Williams scored 12, and Dwight Howard finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Leading scorer Kemba Walker was held to nine points on 4-of-13 shooting.
The Hornets converted 9 of 20 from 3-point range while the Knicks made only 3 of 18.
New York (16-14) had a four-game winning streak snapped.
The Knicks were without leading scorer Kristaps Porzingis for the second straight game because of a sore left knee. They also continue to be without Tim Hardaway Jr., who has now missed nine games with a stress injury in his lower leg. Porzingis is currently eighth in the NBA in scoring at 25.5 points per game.
Michael Beasley led the Knicks with 23 points. Jarrett Jack scored 12 and Enes Kanter 11.
The Hornets led 29-23 after one quarter, 60-42 at halftime, and 88-64 after three quarters. The biggest lead came at 95-68 in the fourth.
Charlotte outrebounded New York 47-37.
Notes: The Hornets have now beaten the Knicks seven straight times in Charlotte. ... The Knicks won the only previous game between the teams this season, 118-113 in New York on November 7. The teams will play two more times in March. ... The Hornets were without F Cody Zeller (left knee surgery) and F Treveon Graham (back spasms). ... The Hornets are now 3-6 since coach Steve Clifford left the team to deal with an unspecified health issue. There is still no time frame on Clifford's return. ... The Hornets were playing the third game of a four-game home stand. They will close out the home stand on Wednesday against Toronto. ... The Knicks will return home to face Boston on Thursday.
