CHICAGO -- Goran Dragic scored 24 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, and Wayne Ellington finished with 19 points as the Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 100-93 on Sunday.
Miami (10-9) won its third straight game as James Johnson finished with 15 points to go along with 11 points and 10 rebounds from Hassan Whiteside and 10 points off the bench from Kelly Olynyk. Tyler Johnson rounded out Miami's balanced scoring attack with 10 points.
The Bulls, who have lost five straight, were led by Jerian Grant, who scored 24 points. Denzel Valentine scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds for Chicago (3-15), which also got 15 points from Justin Holiday and 11 from Lauri Markkanen and Bobby Portis.
The Bulls -- which played at home for the first time since going 0-for-4 on a West Coast road trip -- got to within 80-78 with 6:11 remaining when Grant scored on a driving layup, but failed to complete the three-point play with a missed free throw.
Dragic followed with a 3-point field goal, a pair of free throws and a three-point play to increase the Heat lead back to seven at 88-81. After the Bulls crept to within five points, Ellington hit a 3-point field goal to again extend Miami's lead, which eventually grew to double digits.
Miami led 45-42 at halftime despite starting the game by shooting 2-for-19 from the floor.
NOTES: Heat C Hassan Whiteside played on Sunday after missing practice on Saturday. Whiteside is experiencing soreness in his left knee that is related to a bone bruise he sustained at the start of the season. Whiteside entered Sunday a game-time decision. The Heat played the second game of a four-game road trip that will conclude Wednesday in New York against the Knicks. ... Bulls F David Nwaba (ankle sprain) missed his 10th straight game but is feeling better, according to coach Fred Hoiberg. Hoiberg said Nwaba could return to practice as early as Monday. ... Bulls G Zach LaVine (knee) continues to progress and played 1-on-1 on Sunday after playing 3-on-3 during practice on Chicago's four-game road trip. Hoiberg said the Bulls have a process in place as LaVine prepares to return to the lineup, but won't rush him to risk making matters worse in the long run.
