Last Meeting ( Dec 11, 2019 ) L.A. Lakers 96, Orlando 87

The Los Angeles Lakers look to possess a 10-game winning streak for the second time this season when they host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. The Lakers won 10 straight contests in November and now are just as hot with their last four victories occurring by an average of 22.3 points.

Los Angeles rattled off 81 second-half points in Monday's 128-99 rout of the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers as forward LeBron James scored 23 of his 31 points in the half. James also handed out eight assists to move into eighth place on the NBA's all-time assists list with 9,067, passing Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas (9,061). The Magic won five of their past seven games after posting a dramatic 114-112 win over the Sacramento Kings and now face the Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers on back-to-back nights during the middle of a six-game road trip. "First, we've got to focus on the Lakers and obviously we'll have to play a great game," center Nikola Vucevic told reporters after recording 26 points and 15 rebounds against the Kings. "We'll have to execute on both ends and be at our best to have a chance against a very good team."

TIME: 10:30 p.m. ET. TV: FS Florida, Spectrum SportsNet, Sportsnet One

ABOUT THE MAGIC (19-21): Power forward Aaron Gordon scored the decisive three-point play with 1.1 seconds left off a feed from shooting guard Evan Fournier to cap off a 19-point, nine-rebound performance versus the Kings. "I was going to rebound because Evan was shooting that thing, man," Gordon told reporters afterward. "I thought Evan was going to shoot it, but he made a great play. I was just ready. It was a good pass, I turned and just put it on the rim and it went in." Fourner scored 25 points and is averaging 26.5 points over the past two games.

ABOUT THE LAKERS (33-7): Star power forward Anthony Davis (tailbone) could sit out for the fourth straight game but Los Angeles can afford to be patient with the way reserve big man Dwight Howard is playing. The eight-time All-Star - six appearances came during his Orlando tenure - established season bests of 21 points (on 9-of-11 shooting) and 15 rebounds in the win over the Cavaliers. Howard has recorded back-to-back double-doubles and scored in double digits in four of the past five games while being a valuable contributor.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Lakers posted a 96-87 road win over the Magic on Dec. 11 after losing six of the previous nine meetings.

2. Orlando PG Markelle Fultz is averaging 15.5 points over the past four contests.

3. Los Angeles F Kyle Kuzma scored just 11 points against Cleveland after averaging 31 over the previous two games.

PREDICTION: Lakers 117, Magic 103
