Last Meeting ( Nov 5, 2019 ) San Antonio 100, Atlanta 108

The Atlanta Hawks attempt to halt a 21-game losing streak in San Antonio when they visit the Spurs on Friday. Atlanta lost by double digits 15 times during the long drought and last won in the Alamo City on Feb. 15, 1997.

The Hawks own the second-worst record in the NBA so it's hard to see them ending the hex on this visit, particularly since they are just 4-18 on the road. They are coming off a strong performance, though, as star guard Trae Young recorded 36 points and 10 assists in Tuesday's 123-110 home victory over the Phoenix Suns. San Antonio dropped a 106-100 road decision to the Miami Heat on Wednesday to clinch its first losing record at the midway point since the 1996-97 campaign. "We're going to be fine," shooting guard DeMar DeRozan said afterward. "It (stinks) right now. It's right there. There's a lot of basketball to be played. We're trending in the right direction. We're playing well against great teams, have beaten some great teams and that does a lot for our confidence and knowing how much time is left."

TIME: 8:30 p.m. ET. TV: FS Southeast, KENS

ABOUT THE HAWKS (9-32): Young registered his 13th double-double of the season in the win over the Suns and he took over by scoring 21 of his points in the final stanza. "Any shot Trae takes looks good to us," shooting guard Kevin Huerter told reporters. "He hit probably two 30-footers. When he's making those, he's tough to guard." Huerter joined Young in being a standout by scoring 23 points and establishing career highs of 15 rebounds and eight assists while recording his first double-double of the season.

ABOUT THE SPURS (17-22):
DeRozan continued his impressive play with 30 points on 12-of-14 shooting against the Heat and scored 30 or more in four of the last seven contests and at least 20 in 12 straight games. DeRozan is averaging 27.3 points during the stretch and made more than half his shots in all dozen contests. Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is averaging just 11.5 points over the past two games and failed to reach 20 in five of the last six contests.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Young recorded 29 points and 13 assists as the Hawks registered a 108-100 home win over the Spurs on Nov. 5.

2. San Antonio backup PG Patty Mills scored 21 points against Miami for his sixth 20-point outing of the season.

3. Atlanta SF Chandler Parsons (concussion, whiplash) was injured in a car accident following Wednesday's practice and didn't travel with the club.

PREDICTION: Spurs 102, Hawks 94
