Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones each had 16 points to help Arkansas pull away to a 66-43 win over North Texas on Tuesday in a nonconference game at Fayetteville, Ark.
Arkansas (2-0) overcame a poor performance from 3-point range (6 of 22) and getting outrebounded 37-24 to beat North Texas (1-2). The Razorbacks went on a 19-3 run in the second half after holding a 38-33 lead with 10:20 left in the game.
Arkansas limited opponents to under 50 points in consecutive games for the first time since 2004-05. The Razorbacks opened the season with a 91-43 win over Rice.
Joe made 4 of 6 shots from 3-point range while his teammates went a combined 2 of 16. Jimmy Whitt Jr. added 13 points.
North Texas, which shot 33.3 percent from the field, including a 2-of-17 performance from 3-point range, did not have a double-figure scorer in the game until Deng Geu made a dunk with 6:29 left to give him 10 points, which is what he finished with.
Zachary Simmons had six points and nine rebounds while Javion Hamlet finished with nine points.
After Hamlet made two free throws with 10:20 left to cut Arkansas' lead to 38-33, the Razorbacks went on their game-clinching 19-3 run to build a 57-36 lead with 5:06 left in the game.
North Texas had five of its 18 turnovers of the game in that stretch. Arkansas outscored the Mean Green 22-7 in points-off-turnovers.
Jones scored the first five points in the run. He had 11 of his points in the second half. Desi Sills had six of his nine points in that stretch as well.
Arkansas, which led throughout the game, built a 28-16 lead at halftime. The Mean Green opened the second half on an 8-1 run to make it close until the Razorbacks pulled away with their big run.
