Tyrell Terry and Jaiden Delaire led a balanced attack with 14 points apiece as host Stanford ran away from Long Beach State early in an 86-58 men's nonconference basketball blowout on Tuesday night.
Stanford shot 53.8 percent as the Cardinal, a 15-16 squad last season, rolled to their first 3-0 start since opening 4-0 in 2016.
Long Beach State, which was competitive on the road in an opening loss at UCLA, fell to 1-2.
Bruce Wills and Spencer Jones hit 3-pointers to produce the first six points in the game, and Stanford never trailed, running up leads of 20-7 in the eighth minute and 40-16 with four minutes remaining in the first half.
The Cardinal led 47-22 at the break, and the 49ers of the Big West Conference, a 15-19 team last season, were never closer than 24 in the second half.
Terry hit 6 of 9 shots and Delaire 7 of 11 for the Cardinal. Terry also contributed a game-high six assists.
Oscar da Silva added 12 points and seven rebounds for Stanford, which played tight games against Long Beach each of the past two seasons, losing on the road in 2017 before winning at home last season.
Max de Geest had 13 points off the bench and Jordan Griffin 12 for the 49ers, who shot just 40.7 percent.
Chance Hunter, who averaged a team-best 20 points in the 49ers' first two games, and Michael Carter III, who averaged 17, were held to five and two points, respectively. Carter missed all nine of his field goal attempts, including six 3-pointers.
Long Beach State shot just 7-for-23 on 3s (30.4 percent), with de Geest (3-for-7) and Griffin (2-for-3) combining to make five.
