Remy Martin had 23 points, three 3-pointers and six assists as the host Arizona State Sun Devils ran away from the Georgia Bulldogs in the second half for a 79-59 victory on Saturday night.
Romello White had his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Alonzo Verge Jr. had 15 points and five rebounds, and Kimani Lawrence had a season-high 11 points for the Sun Devils (8-2), who held Georgia to a season-low 34.9 percent shooting from the field. Arizona State has won five in a row, with its only losses to No. 9 Virginia and No. 24 Colorado.
Top NBA prospect Anthony Edwards had 12 of his 13 points the first half but missed all five of his 3-point attempts while playing only 24 minutes. Tye Fagan had 15 points for the Bulldogs (6-3), who had been 6-0 against unranked teams.
The Bulldogs were 2 of 24 from 3-point range. Their previous low was four 3-pointers in a 19-point loss to Dayton in the Maui Invitational. Georgia entered averaging 86.1 points per game, fourth in NCAA Division 1.
White, who was 7 of 8 from the floor, has 65 points and 58 rebounds in his last four games, all double-doubles, while hitting 22 of 26 field goals. White is from Suwanee, Ga., 50 miles west of the Bulldogs' campus in Athens.
White scored seven points in the first 3 1/2 minutes of the second half, and his three-point play gave Arizona State a 48-37 lead with 16:33 to go. Lawrence had three baskets as the Sun Devils made 10 of 11 field goals later in the half to stretch the lead to 72-51 with six minutes left.
Martin had 15 points and three treys, and White had 10 points and nine rebounds in the first half. His tip-in at the buzzer gave the Sun Devils a 39-31 halftime lead, their largest to that point. Martin and White combined for 13 straight Arizona State points late in the half.
