Buddy Boeheim scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half, when host Syracuse took control en route to a 76-50 rout of Boston College on Wednesday night in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Elijah Hughes finished with 19 points and Joseph Girard III scored 12 for the Orange (10-7, 3-3 ACC), who have won two in a row after dropping consecutive home games to Notre Dame and Virginia Tech. Despite missing nine of its first 11 shots, Syracuse built a 38-13 lead by halftime and shot 51.9 percent from the floor for the game.
Boeheim, who hit four 3-pointers, recorded seven straight points during a 10-0 run that put Syracuse up 21-7. The Orange than used an 11-0 run late in the first half to break things open. They held Boston College to six points over the final 9:12 of the first half and led by as many as 29 at one point after halftime.
CJ Felder and Jairus Hamilton each had nine points to lead the Golden Eagles (9-8, 3-3). Boston College missed its first nine shots, went 5 of 27 from the field in the first half, shot 32.8 percent for the game and finished 6 of 30 from the 3-point arc.
The Eagles didn't make their first 3-pointer until Julian Rishwain knocked one down with 13:43 left in the game.
Boeheim, who entered second on the team with an average of 15.3 points, picked up where he left off by scoring Syracuse's first four points of the second half. The Orange, who also got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Marek Dolezaj, held a 40-28 advantage on the boards.
Boston College, meanwhile, has lost three of its last four. The Eagles have also dropped six straight at Syracuse and nine of 11 overall in the series.
Eagles guard Derryck Thornton, who came into the contest averaging a team-leading 13.3 points but dealing with an ankle injury, was held to a season-low four points on 2-of-7 shooting.
