Ethan Thompson's 15 points, 14 from Kylor Kelley and a clutch 3-pointer from Zach Reichle late in the game led the host Oregon State Beavers to a 63-53 upset of No. 14 Oregon on Saturday night in Corvallis, Ore.
Reichle hit a 3-pointer for a 55-50 lead with 1:17 left to play, and Oregon (18-6, 7-4 in Pac-12) couldn't rally in losing its second straight game. The Beavers (14-9, 4-7) have won two of their last three games.
Payton Pritchard's 16 points led the Ducks, who lost a 10-point second-half lead.
Pritchard's layup with 6:06 to play tied the game at 44 and ended an 8-minute, 44-second scoring drought for the Ducks, the second straight game in which they'd struggled with shooting for such an extended period of time in the second half.
The Beavers went ahead on a Reichle dunk, 50-48, with 2:52 left.
The first half was largely a back-and-forth affair, with Oregon State leading by as many as five points and the Ducks by four.
Three Jarod Lucas free throws gave the Beavers a 24-19 lead with 6:09 left in the half, but the Ducks made three straight 3s to tie it at 28. Anthony Mathis hit two of those.
Chris Duarte drove for a layup and a 30-28 Oregon lead with 2:06 left, and Oregon took a 32-28 lead into halftime after Oregon State went the final 3:23 without a point.
Pritchard and Tres Tinkle, one who is the Pac-12's leading scorer and the latter right behind him entering the game, made just 2 of 7 shots each in the first half. Pritchard had six assists.
Oregon went ahead by 10 early in the second half, 40-30, only to allow Oregon State to go on a 12-2 run to draw even. Tinkle's finger roll at the basket cut the Ducks' lead to 42-40 with 11:48 to play, and Kelley dunked to tie the game moments later.
