Andrew Jones scored 22 points, 16 in the first half, and Courtney Ramey added 21 as Texas dominated No. 20 West Virginia 67-57 on Monday in Austin, Texas, to win its third consecutive game.
Texas (17-11, 7-8 Big 12) led by six points at halftime and was up 52-43 after a layup by Ramey at the 9:06 mark of the second half. The Mountaineers never got closer than seven points the rest of the way, missing three front ends of one-and-one free-throw chances and five shots in the game's final five minutes.
Matt Coleman III added 13 points for the Longhorns, who played without four injured or sick players who have started games this season.
Oscar Tshiebwe led the Mountaineers with 14 points while reserves Sean McNeil and Derek Culver scored 13 and 12, respectively. Culver was just 2 of 8 from the foul line, and West Virginia finished 10 of 21 from the charity stripe.
West Virginia (19-9, 7-8) has dropped five of its past six games and has lost six straight on the road.
After a ragged start for both teams, Jones energized the Longhorns, scoring 11 consecutive points to push Texas into a 17-6 lead at the 10:43 mark of the first half.
The Mountaineers responded with a 12-2 run to pull back to within a point, but Texas steadied itself and eventually took a 34-28 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Jones shot 5 of 7 in the first half, hitting all four of his 3-point attempts. Ramey added 11 points as the Longhorns outshot West Virginia 61.9 percent to 45.8 percent in the half.
McNeil led the Mountaineers with nine points over the first 20 minutes. Tshiebwe added seven first-half points for West Virginia, which got 16 of its 28 points in the half from bench players.
