Buddy Boeheim scored 20 of his career-high 29 points after halftime as host Syracuse rallied to a 75-67 victory over Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon.
The Orange (13-6, 7-5 ACC) won their third straight since a 17-point loss at Clemson two weeks ago by outscoring Notre Dame 40-12 over the final 16:49.
Boeheim shot 10 of 19 from the field, including 6 of 11 in the second half. He hit 6 of 10 from 3-point range and hit four of them during a 29-5 run that gave Syracuse a 62-60 lead with 7:36 remaining.
Marek Dolezaj added 18 points for the Orange, who shot 43.5 percent from the floor in the game and 46.7 in the second half. Quincy Guerrier contributed nine points and 14 rebounds for Syracuse.
Trey Wertz hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points, but he scored just three points after his 3-pointer gave Notre Dame a 55-35 lead.
Dane Goodwin added 13 points, Nate Laszewski collected 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (9-11, 6-8), who shot 44.8 percent overall but 32.0 percent after halftime. They were unable to win their third straight game.
Juwan Durham scored 10 quick points as Notre Dame started by making eight of its first 12 shots and took a 17-9 lead with 13:41 remaining. The Fighting Irish stayed hot and upped their lead to 25-13 on a 3-pointer by Wertz with 12:34 remaining.
A transition layup by Goodwin extended the lead to 32-15 with about 8 1/2 minutes left. The advantage grew to 39-21 on a hoop by Laszewski with 4:51 remaining and Notre Dame maintained a 46-32 edge at halftime.
After Syracuse got the lead for the first time, the Orange expanded the advantage to 68-63 on a jumper by Dolezaj with 3:15 left. The Orange secured a 71-63 edge on Boeheim's 3-pointer a minute later and hit four free throws in the final 44 seconds to clinch it.
