Johnny Davis scored 26 points to lead No. 23 Wisconsin to an 87-78 victory over visiting Iowa in a Big Ten Conference matchup featuring two of the nation's top scorers on Thursday night in Madison, Wis.
Davis, who entered third in scoring in Division I at 22.3 points per game, hit 10 of 18 shots, pulled down nine rebounds and had five assists for the Badgers (12-2, 3-1 Big Ten).
Keegan Murray, the nation's top scorer at 24.5, hit six of his last seven shots to finish with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting for Iowa, which entered averaging 87.4 points per game.
Brad Davison had 18 points and Tyler Wahl added 16 points and nine rebounds for Wisconsin, which held a 43-26 advantage on the boards. Steven Crowl added 12 points, and freshman point guard Chucky Hepburn had 11 as all five starters scored in double figures.
Kris Murray, Keegan's twin brother, and Jordan Bohannon each had 12 points for Iowa (11-4, 1-3), which had won the last four against Wisconsin.
Davis, who had 37 points and 14 rebounds in the Badgers' 74-69 road upset of No. 3 Purdue on Monday, had 15 of Wisconsin's first 31 points against the Hawkeyes.
Wisconsin led 45-32 at the half, then hit six of its first eight shots after the break, going in front 57-38 on Wahl's dunk with 16:13 remaining.
Davison hit a 3-pointer from the left corner to put the Badgers up 74-52 with 7:41 left. Wisconsin led 87-70 with just over a minute remaining before the Hawkeyes scored the final eight points.
Davis scored seven points to fuel a 12-0 run that put Wisconsin up 32-19 with just under seven minutes left in the first half.
Iowa responded with eight consecutive points, but the Badgers then answered with three straight baskets, making it 38-27 on Wahl's layup.
Davison was fouled on a 3-pointer and hit all three free throws to put Wisconsin up 45-32 at the half.
