Alex Barcello scored a season-high 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting to lead BYU to a convincing 81-49 victory over No. 12 Oregon on Tuesday night in the Phil Knight Invitational at Portland.
Barcello made his first eight field-goal attempts and also knocked down 4 of 6 from 3-point range as the Cougars (3-0) crushed the Ducks (2-1).
Te'Jon Lucas added 12 points while Spencer Johnson and Fousseyni Traore scored 10 apiece for BYU, which led by as many as 33 points in a wire-to-wire rout.
Eric Williams Jr. scored 12 points to pace Oregon, which shot just 32.1 percent from the field and was 3 of 14 from 3-point range.
The Cougars shot 59.6 percent from the field and hit 9 of 22 from behind the arc. BYU outrebounded the Ducks 34-25 and had a 33-6 edge in bench points.
Barcello scored 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting -- including three 3-pointers -- as BYU led 37-18 at the break.
The Cougars ran off nine straight points early in the half to take a 15-6 lead, and later pushed the advantage to 25-11 on Gavin Baxter's basket with 6:19 left.
Johnson drained a 3-pointer to make it 33-13, and Barcello added a trey for a 22-point lead. BYU shot 57.1 percent (16 of 28) in the half while the Ducks were just 5 of 26 (19.2 percent) from the field.
The assault continued in the second half as Lucas drained a 3-pointer to make it 50-26 with 14:49 left.
Oregon cut its deficit to 56-39 on Jacob Young's 3-pointer with 10:29 remaining, but Barcello answered with a 3-pointer and Baxter added a layup.
A short time later, Johnson hit a 3-pointer and Gideon George slammed home a dunk to make it 70-44 with 5:53 left.
Seneca Knight connected on a 3-pointer and added a jumper as the Cougars lead soared above 30 at 79-48 with 2:36 remaining.
