Jaden Ivey scored 22 points and made a career-high six 3-pointers without a miss to help No. 3 Purdue steamroll Butler 77-48 on Saturday in the Crossroads Classic on a neutral floor in Indianapolis.
Zach Edey recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season for the Boilermakers (10-1). Trevion Williams added 10 points and six rebounds as Purdue shot 52.9 percent from the field and made 11 of 22 from 3-point range.
Ivey is the first Purdue player to go 6 of 6 from 3-point range since Dakota Mathias did it against Fairfield on Nov. 18, 2017.
Bryce Golden scored 17 points for Butler (7-4), which had a four-game winning streak halted. Jayden Taylor added 11 points.
The Bulldogs played without leading scorer Chuck Harris (11.6 points per game) due to a non-COVID illness.
Butler shot just 32.2 percent from the field and was 4 of 28 from behind the arc.
Purdue outrebounded Butler 42-27 and led by as many as 36 points.
Ivey had 13 points in the first half and Edey added 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Boilermakers led 39-21 at the break.
Butler trailed 19-15 after Golden's basket with 8:31 left in the first half before Purdue turned it up a notch.
Edey scored six points and Ivey had five during a 15-1 burst that gave the Boilermakers a 34-16 lead with 2:30 remaining.
Golden's 3-pointer with two minutes left was the Bulldogs' first basket in 6:31.
Purdue remained in control in the second half by scoring 10 of the first 13 points with Sasha Stefanovic draining a 3-pointer to make it 49-24 with 16:35 left.
A short time later, the Boilermakers scored 11 consecutive points. Edey's layup pushed the lead to 30 for the first time and Mason Gillis made two free throws to cap the burst and made the score 60-28 with 10:27 remaining.
Ivey later buried two 3-pointers in a 48-second span as Purdue led 72-36 with 6:07 remaining. Ivey exited 23 seconds later as the Boilermakers cruised to the finish.
Indiana and Notre Dame were scheduled to meet in the event's second game of the day.
