Caleb Love scored 22 points to lead seventh-seeded North Carolina to an 85-61 victory over 10th-seeded Boston College in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament on Wednesday at Greensboro, N.C.
RJ Davis added 18 points for the Tar Heels (20-12), who face second-seeded Virginia (23-6) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Love shot 9 of 20 from the field, including 3 of 8 from 3-point range, to go along with three steals. Davis hit 4 of 6 shots from beyond the arc and 7 of 12 overall from the floor.
Armando Bacot, whose first-half ankle injury limited him to six minutes of second-half playing time, chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and three assists for North Carolina.
Pete Nance finished with 10 points and four blocks for the Tar Heels, who have won four of their past five games.
The Tar Heels shot 34 of 62 (54.8 percent) from the field, including 10 of 24 (41.7 percent) from distance.
North Carolina scored 16 points of the Eagles' 13 turnovers, while Boston College had just seven points off the Tar Heels' seven miscues.
Boston College (16-17) was led by Makai Ashton-Langford, who scored 11 of his team-high 16 points in the first half. Quinten Post scored nine of his 13 points in the first 20 minutes.
Jaeden Zackery added 15 points for Boston College.
The Eagles shot 24 of 53 (45.3 percent) from the field, including 7 of 21 (33.3 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Tar Heels put the game away by opening the second half on a 15-2 run to extend their lead to 58-31 following Davis' 3-pointer with 15:25 remaining.
North Carolina dominated the first half, leading by as many as 19 before taking a 43-29 halftime advantage.
Love scored 12 points and Davis added 11 in the first half for North Carolina, which shot 16 of 32 (50 percent) from the field before the break, including an even better 7 of 13 (53.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Eagles shot 10 of 25 (40 percent) from the field prior to halftime, including 4 of 11 (36.4 percent) from distance.
