CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Freshman guard Lonnie Walker IV scored a season-high 26 points in his first collegiate start to lead No. 10 Miami to a 69-54 victory over Boston University Tuesday night.

It was the second time in as many games that Walker posted a career high. He scored 12 points in Saturday night's 80-52 win over Princeton. He was 9 of 15 from the field, including 5 of 7 on 3-pointers, and also had seven rebounds.

Guard DJ Vasiljevic added 15 points as the Hurricanes (8-0) shook off the determined Terriers (3-4) in the second half.

Forward Max Mahoney led BU with 12 points.

Mahoney's tip-in at the buzzer gave the Terriers a 30-30 tie at the half, the second time the game was tied in the first 20 minutes. The first came at 8-8, also courtesy of Mahoney on his layup at the 15:36 mark.

The Hurricanes went on a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to assume a 17-10 lead and eventually took their biggest lead of the half, 23-15, with just under nine minutes left in the period.

They were up 30-26 before going cold. The Hurricanes went scoreless for the final 3:16 of the period, but scored the first seven points of the second half and led the rest of the way.

NOTES: Miami sophomore G Bruce Brown, the team's No. 2 scorer (11.7 ppg) did not play and will miss two games because of an injured left hand. ... Miami is 8-0 for the second time under coach Jim Larranaga. The Hurricanes won their first eight games in the 2014-15 season. ... This was Miami's last home game in a month. The Hurricanes will go on an 11-day break for final exams before going to George Washington on Dec. 16. They play in the Hawaiian Airlines Invitational Dec. 23-25 before opening ACC play at Pittsburgh on Dec. 20 and at Georgia Tech on Jan. 3, then get Florida State at home on Jan. 7. ... The Terriers' next game is at Bethune-Cookman Friday night.
