Texas did not shoot the 3-pointer well in non-conference games but has heated up in Big 12 action. After converting 11-of-22 in a one-point victory at TCU on Wednesday, the Longhorns eye a second straight win when struggling Iowa State visits on Saturday.

Jase Febres scored 15 points on 5-of-7 beyond the arc, but none was more important than his clutch jumper with 1:49 left in the game that provided a 62-59 lead and proved to be the game-winner. In the Longhorns' first 14 games, the team shot 32.3 percent from 3-point range; Texas has shot 38.8 percent from long-range in its last six games and its 36.3 percent in league games is the conference's best. Iowa State played No. 1 Baylor tough for a while Wednesday, but the Bears put on a 17-2 blitz in the second half to send the Cyclones to a fourth defeat in five games. The Cyclones shot 36 percent, including 4-of-17 from 3-point range, were outrebounded 39-28 and were a minus-six in turnover margin.

ABOUT IOWA STATE (9-11, 2-5 Big 12): Rasir Bolton (15.3 points, 2.8 assists) tallied 19 points, including 14 in the first half, and connected on 4-of-8 beyond the arc, but the rest of the team went 0-for-9. Tyrese Haliburton (15.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.9 assists) contributed 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks, but the rest of the team other than Bolton totaled 17 points. Sophomore center George Conditt IV had 19 points in Big 12 opener against TCU but has been limited to 4.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in his last seven games - six starts.

ABOUT TEXAS (13-7, 3-4): Febres (10.3 points, team-high 53 3-pointers) reached double figures in scoring for the 11th time this year and 29th time in his career. Junior forward Jericho Sims (9.6 points, 8.0 rebounds - seventh in Big 12) had nine points and registered a game-high 13 rebounds, and his 64.3 percent field-goal percentage would rank third in the league if he qualified. The Longhorns rank eighth in offensive efficiency (92.9) in conference games with a league-worst 19.6 free-throw attempt/field-goal attempt ratio and rank ninth in offensive rebound percentage (24.5).
