Last Meeting ( Feb 10, 2019 ) Stanford 46, Oregon 69

Stanford stormed to the front of the Pac-12 standings with four straight wins to open league play, but the past two weeks haven’t been kind to the Cardinal. Coach Jerod Haase’s squad looks to end a three-game losing skid Saturday at home against 12th-ranked Oregon, which has taken over the top spot in the conference race at 7-2.

Junior forward Oscar da Silva recorded 22 points and eight rebounds in Thursday’s 68-63 loss to Oregon State, which outscored the Cardinal 15-3 over the final 4:05. The Cardinal offense has sputtered in losses to USC, California and Oregon State, but Haase is hopeful his team will rediscover its early-season form in time for Saturday’s matchup against the Ducks. “We’re facing a bit of adversity right now these last three games,” Haase told reporters. “We’ll see how we respond.” While Stanford is trending in the wrong direction, Oregon has won four in a row and boasts the leading candidate for Pac-12 player of the year in senior guard Payton Pritchard, who became the school’s all-time assists leader in Thursday’s 77-72 victory over Cal.

ABOUT OREGON (18-4, 7-2 Pac-12): Pritchard scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half and finished with eight assists in the win over Cal, which gave the Ducks a surprising test but wasn’t able to keep pace in the final eight minutes. “Payton Pritchard late in the game was a deciding factor,” Cal coach Mark Fox told reporters. “As hard as we played and we got in position to win, the battle-tested team really separated themselves in the last couple minutes.” Reigning Pac-12 player of the week Chris Duarte scored 19 points in the victory and is averaging 17.3 points and 6.4 rebounds in league play.

ABOUT STANFORD (15-5, 4-3): Freshman point guard Tyrell Terry recorded 13 points, six rebounds and three assists against Oregon State while junior guard Daejon Davis added 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. The Cardinal struggled to score inside against 7-footer Kylor Kelly, who matched his season-high with seven blocks and forced Haase to adjust his offense. Stanford has a pair of strong perimeter shooters in freshman Spencer Jones and junior Isaac White, who combined for 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting against the Beavers.
