Alouettes 39, Lions 38: Tanner Marsh's 57-yard pass to Eric Deslauriers set up Sean Whyte's 14-yard field goal as time expired and host Montreal overcame poor execution to edge BC.
Marsh, who replaced backup Josh Neiswander near the end of the first quarter, finished 14-for-32 for 329 yards with one touchdown and rushed for another, but also threw four interceptions - including three in the fourth quarter - for the Alouettes (3-5). Tyron Carrier was a danger all game and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown with 7:11 left in the fourth quarter to get Montreal within 38-33.
The Lions' Tim Brown returned a missed field goal 125 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter and quarterback Travis Lulay completed 15-of-28 passes with two touchdowns for the Lions (5-3), who never trailed until the final play. Korey Banks made two interceptions, while Ryan Phillips, Solomon Elimimian and Joshua Bell also recorded picks.
Marsh threw three of his four interceptions in the fourth quarter but got the ball on Montreal’s 5-yard line trailing by two points with 53 seconds remaining and completed 4-of-7 passes on the drive to set up Whyte’s winning kick. BC managed only one first down - aided by an offside penalty on the Alouettes - after Lulay found Sean Gore for a 29-yard score with 7:42 remaining.
BC had 15 points on the board before Marsh found S.J. Green for a 3-yard touchdown with 3:38 remaining in the first half before Carrier opened the second half with a 65-yard kickoff return and Jerome Messam ran 16 yards for a touchdown two plays later to pull Montreal within 21-14. Alouettes defensive back Jerald Brown intercepted Lulay on the following drive, but Montreal’s momentum was stifled by Tim Brown’s missed field goal return two minutes later.
