Tiger-Cats 37, Blue Bombers 18: Henry Burris completed 22-of-36 passes for 333 yards and one touchdown as visiting Hamilton defeated Winnipeg for the second time this season.
Burris, who leads the CFL with 2,136 passing yards, connected with wide receiver Onrea Jones for a 25-yard touchdown and running back C.J. Gable ran for 75 yards and a TD while adding 72 receiving yards for the Tiger-Cats (3-4). Short-yardage quarterback Dan LeFevour threw one touchdown and ran for another.
Hamilton defensive backs Raymond Brown and Rico Murray intercepted Winnipeg quarterback Max Hall, who finished 18-for-30 for 241 yards and one touchdown in his first CFL start. The Blue Bombers (1-6) have dropped five straight, starting with a 25-20 loss to the Tiger-Cats in Week 3.
Hamilton led 10-0 after one quarter and Hall threw his first CFL touchdown midway through the second, finding wide receiver Rory Kohlert for 6 yards. Burris responded before halftime with his toss to Jones and the Tiger-Cats added another touchdown late in the third quarter on a 1-yard LeFevour run.
The teams traded field goals early in the fourth quarter and Gable ran for a 15-yard score with with 5:44 remaining to give the Tiger-Cats some breathing room. Blue Bombers linebacker Ian Wild returned a fumble 54 yards for a touchdown 3:05 later, but that was all Winnipeg could muster.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Brown and Murray’s interceptions were Hamilton’s first of the year. … Winnipeg SB Terrence Edwards caught eight passes for 172 yards. … The Blue Bombers' Alex Hall leads the league in sacks with nine, while Winnipeg has a league-leading 27. … Hamilton WR Andy Fantuz caught four passes for 29 yards in his first game back from an injury suffered in Week 1.
