Alouettes 50, Lions 17: S.J. Green and Duron Carter caught touchdown passes and Tanner Marsh ran for two scores as host Montreal demolished BC.
Jonathan Crompton was 14-for-21 passing for 155 yards for the Alouettes (10-9), who advance to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Division Final next Sunday. Bear Woods and Jerald Brown made interceptions and Brown also returned a fumble for a touchdown, while Brandon Rutley rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and Chris Rainey had 71 rushing yards and a score on three carries.
Kevin Glenn tossed two interceptions and was 6-for-18 for 64 yards for the Lions (9-10), who couldn’t get anything going on offence until Travis Partridge found Shawn Gore and Ernest Jackson for touchdowns in the final 2:14. Stefan Logan rushed for 94 yards on 13 carries, while Alex Bazzie had a sack and Cord Parks recorded an interception.
Green caught a 10-yard touchdown pass with 5:40 remaining in the first half and Carter added a 16-yard touchdown with 1:09 left to make it 15-3 at the break. Rutley opened the second half with 36 rushing yards on a drive that ended in Marsh’s first touchdown and Rutley scored his TD after Woods picked off Glenn midway through the third quarter.
The Lions attempted a quick kick out of their own end zone with 3:11 remaining in the third quarter but Marco Iannuzzi was only able to tap the ball before being tackled, leading to an Alouettes first down on BC’s 3-yard line and another touchdown for Marsh. Rainey took over for Rutley and scored on a 64-yard run on his first touch of the fourth quarter, and Brown recovered a fumble and returned it 103 yards with 10:59 remaining.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Green finished with a game-high 95 yards on seven catches. … BC QB Travis Lulay dressed but did not see action, with Partridge instead serving as Glenn’s backup. … Montreal ended the regular season with a loss at Hamilton.
