Carolina @ Philadelphia preview

Last Meeting ( Mar 18, 2023 ) Carolina 5, Philadelphia 4
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to regroup when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.
The Flyers played a poor defensive game and fell 7-4 to the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. The result was their first home loss in four games this season.
While Travis Konecny scored two twice and Cam Atkinson and Joel Farabee each had one goal for the Flyers, those turned out to be empty statistics.
Turnovers in their own zone and costly mistakes throughout hurt the Flyers.
"They jumped on us there right away," Konecny said. "It's upsetting because we had talked about it, and we gave them the momentum right away. I thought we gained it back, and then I turn that one over there at the start of the third on the (penalty kill) and gives it right back to them, and they score two quick ones and we're out of it."
Konecny has been a spark this season with eight goals in the first eight games. He's the second Philadelphia player to score as many goals in that time frame, joining Simon Gagne (nine goals, 2005-06).
But the offense wasn't nearly enough on this particular day.
"I thought we had a good start," Flyers head coach John Tortorella said. "I thought their goalie made two or three good saves. We give them a free one when we fan on a pass, and they score on the power play and we're chasing. I thought we were coming, coming (and then down). We were just really disjointed as far as sustaining our energy."
The Hurricanes will aim for their third consecutive victory on Monday.
Teuvo Teravainen recorded a hat trick and goaltender Antti Raanta stopped all 20 shots for the Hurricanes in a 3-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Friday. It was Teravainen's second career natural hat trick, with the previous one coming Nov. 13, 2017.
"It's a little bit weird, I'm not used to (scoring) that much," Teravainen said. "I guess, I've just got to keep going. Right now, it feels pretty good."
The offensive output wasn't surprising. It was indeed welcomed.
"He's got a great shot. Over the years, we have wanted him to shoot more," Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "You can see tonight. He had a couple really nice ones."
Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis contributed two assists apiece for Carolina.
Raanta played his best game of the season, especially after allowing 10 goals in three appearances.
"I don't think I was close to what I can be," Raanta said. "I think there's still some things I can do better, but you take what you get and move on."
In addition, the Hurricanes received a boost from forward Andrei Svechnikov. He made his season debut and fired four shots on goal in 13:40 of ice time. The 23-year-old played for the first time since tearing his ACL against the Vegas Golden Knights on March 11.
"First couple shifts, I was nervous, excited and all that stuff," Svechnikov said. "But after a couple shifts, I was fine."
