Borralho vs Petrosyan betting preview

Borralho has the looks of a promising prospect. He’s on a 10-fight winning streak, presents a balanced attack with his stand-up and ground game, and is inching towards his prime. The last time the Brazilian took to the octagon, he sprung a minor upset in roughing up the previously undefeated Gadzhi Omargadzhiev last April.

“The Natural” is a strong finisher with four knockouts and three submissions. He lands 3.66 strikes per minute at 64% accuracy and has an astonishing 80% success rate with his takedowns. Though he does face deficits in height and experience, he’s the longer fighter with a mean streak and the better overall skill set.

Petrosyan shares his opponent’s knack for finishes, scoring six knockouts in his seven career wins. The heavy-handed Armenian was put through the ringer in an absolute war with Gregory Rodrigues last February, but his powerful strikes and consistent offense carried him to a narrow decision win. The Rodrigues victory was his first to go the distance.

With hands as hard as steel, “Superman” is all the more dangerous, landing a shocking 7.56 strikes per minute at 55% accuracy. His striking defense is respectable, but his takedown defense is a liability and he tends to get caught during exchanges. However, his last fight proved that he has a strong chin and plenty of resilience.

Borralho has better one-shot power, and he’ll have to rely on a four-inch reach advantage to catch Petrosyan with a big shot that results in a potential takedown. Petrosyan can muscle his way inside with his volume, knowing that he can overwhelm his foe in extended exchanges. This doesn’t look like a fight that will go the distance, but it won’t take long to see how it should go.

Borralho vs Petrosyan UFC prediction and best bet

Our prediction is compiled from the analysis of the fighters and is an indication of who we are leaning with to win this bout.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this fight or where the most value lies, and is where we would put some of our bankroll behind.

The most telling deficiency in two otherwise evenly-matched fighters is Petrosyan’s subpar takedown defense. There was a sequence in his last fight where got taken down and nearly submitted after eating a clean shot. Petrosyan’s head movement and footwork aren’t good enough to keep him out of trouble, and Borralho’s strong grappling serves to further antagonize him.

Borralho is the sharper striker and will get plenty of opportunities to land his shots. What he’ll have to avoid is being lulled into a brawl where Petrosyan’s combination striking and leg kicks could slow him down and bloody him up. Then again, Borralho takes measured risks with his offense and is likely to control the pace as he patiently looks for a takedown opportunity.

It should be a fun fight, but we’re banking on Borralho’s bag of tricks to overcome Petrosyan in a firefight.

Prediction: Borralho to win (-210 at DraftKings)

These two shouldn’t take long to get acquainted with one another, and the violence that will unfold could lead to a quick finish. With his sharper strikes and the grappling credentials to put his opponent down, Borralho is the more dangerous of the two and has more ways to win.

Lucky for him, Petrosyan is going to give him plenty of chances to catch some heat and exploit his poor takedown defense. We like Borralho to use those stylistic advantages to hit paydirt in the first round, and that outcome yields a +500 payout that stands out as the best pick for this fight.

Pick: Borralho to Win by KO/TKO/DQ in Round 1 (+500 at DraftKings)
