The WNBA is back from its Olympic break, and we get three tasty games on the Friday night slate, including Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

The high-flying Connecticut Sun are also in action, looking to improve on their 18-6 record, while the Seattle Storm try to keep their playoff push on track.

That sets the stage for a busy night of WNBA picks for Friday, August 16.

WNBA player prop bets for August 16

Today's best WNBA player props bets

Prop bet #1: Kahleah Copper Under 24.5 points

-115 at bet365

It’s been quite a week for Kahleah Copper, who returned from winning a gold medal at the Olympics and scored 29 points last night against the Chicago Sky.

But I’m predicting a quieter night here for the Phoenix Mercury guard. She’s averaging 23.4 ppg this season and she fell short of this O/U total in her two games prior to the midseason break.

There has to be some caution around her minutes on the second night of a back-to-back set, given that she hasn’t had the break that so many WNBA players enjoyed over the last few weeks.

Copper has served up polar opposite outings against the Fever this season, torching Indiana in a 36-point masterpiece in a July meeting after a 3-for-15 shooting line in a matchup earlier in the year.

With the Mercury boasting no shortage of scoring options, look for Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi to have their say in the offense too. While Copper knocked down three triples yesterday, she’s only shooting 34% from beyond the arc in 2024.

If anyone deserves an easy night after her recent heroics, it’s Copper — and this contest should allow her to slide into a supporting role at times.

Prop bet #2: Satou Sabally Over 14.5 points

-115 at bet365

It was good to see Satou Sabally back on the court at the Olympics after missing all of the Dallas Wings’ games so far this year, and there’s every reason to think she’ll return to star status in the second half of this WNBA season.

Sabally averaged 18.8 points in action for Germany, and her return should be a massive boost for the faltering Wings, who drag a 6-19 mark into tonight’s clash with the Connecticut Sun. She’ll certainly relieve some of the offensive burden on Arike Ogunbowale, who’s been carrying an unsustainable workload.

Sabally had a career year in 2023, finishing with 18.6 ppg on 44% shooting, and I expect her to contribute immediately for Dallas in her first WNBA outing of the year.

While the Wings have poured in 81.9 ppg without her, and both Natasha Howard and Odyssey Sims have stepped up, Sabally’s ability to score inside and outside should give this offense a jolt.

This feels like a reasonable O/U line as Sabally eases her way back into this WNBA season.

Prop bet #3: Nneka Ogwumike to record double-double

+180 at bet365

The Seattle Storm have a favorable matchup against the Atlanta Dream, and I’m picking Nneka Ogwumike to stuff the stat sheet here.

Ogwumike signed off for the Olympic break with two straight double-doubles, including a 23-point, 10-rebound effort against the Los Angeles Sparks. The other double-double came against this same Atlanta team and included 12 boards.

Plus, if Seattle eases the minutes for Ezi Megbegor, who’s coming off a bronze medal with Australia, that could mean even more touches and rebounds for Ogwumike.

I’m not worried about Ogwumike’s scoring for this prop – after all, she’s averaging 17.4 ppg. The rebounding is more of a stretch, but the Dream are shooting just 41% from the field in 2024 and 30% from downtown.

Those kinds of numbers would provide ample opportunities for the Storm on the boards, and I see Ogwumike cashing in.
