As the proverbial clock ticks toward the season’s end, Chicago is in a position to secure home-court advantage throughout the entire playoffs. Facing one of the league’s worst teams will not get the Sky over that hump, but routing the Liberty should push Chicago that much closer.
Here are our free WNBA picks and predictions for the Sky at the Liberty on July 23, with tip-off set for 7:00 ET.

Sky vs Liberty picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Spread analysis
The Sky look more and more like the WNBA’s defending champions. Chicago is won six straight and 11 of its last 12. Even in terms of betting, the Sky are finding their peak, going 4-1 ATS in its last five, with the one loss coming by a mere point. If there is a reason to doubt Chicago, it is because of the WNBA’s refusals to act like a professional sports league.
The league not allowing teams to regularly fly charter flights puts them at the mercy of domestic air travel, currently a debacle across the country. Getting all 12 players, three coaches, training staff, equipment staff, and whomever else onto a flight while the general public also squabbles for tickets is a near-impossible task.
That flight delay may have played a part in sportsbooks not opening this market until mid-morning. More likely, the back-to-back knocked down their expectations for Chicago.
Perhaps that is a valid concern, but when the Sky are facing a team that has not covered the spread in its last three games and is 3-5 ATS in its last eight, we shouldn't be worried.
Prediction: Skyt -4.5 (-115 at BetMGM)
Over/Under analysis
If there is an area to worry about with Chicago, it is if the Sky can uphold their end of the bargain in the chase for the Over. Chicago’s legs may eventually slow down this game coming off of a back-to-back last night.
Yet, this total is not distinctly deflated. Across its last 10 games, the Sky’s total has averaged 166.6 points. Chicago is gone 6-4 to the Over in that stretch, though only one of those was on the latter half of a back-to-back.
Simply hitting the brakes in the second half could knock the Sky off that typical pace by a bucket, which is all that is needed to get Under this total.
Prediction: Under 163.5 (-110 at Caesars)
Best bet
Worried about Chicago’s fatigue in these circumstances? Understandable. See any reason to believe in the second-to-last team in the league currently on a five-game losing streak? Of course not.
Then let’s find a way through that rock and a hard place. The Sky are the better team; there is no debating that. The only reason this game should be close is that fatigue could factor in later on.
Take those tired legs out of the equation and bet on Chicago to cruise in the first half.
Pick: Sky -2.5 first half (-110 at BetMGM)
