Wings vs Sparks Predictions, Picks, Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Arike Ogunbowale shot terribly the last time the Wings and Sparks faced off, but our WNBA picks aren't counting on one of the league's best gunners to stay cold in the rematch.

The Dallas Wings (3-5) and Los Angeles Sparks (2-7) will look to end their respective three-game losing streaks when they hit the hardwood tonight in a Western Conference Commissioner’s Cup matchup.

Dallas is the slight favorite and my Wings vs. Sparks prediction expects their rebounding and improved 3-point shooting to make a large impact on Friday, June 7.

Read on for tonight’s WNBA picks!

Wings vs Sparks predictions

My best bet
Wings -2.5 (-115 at BetMGM)

My analysis

The Dallas Wings were on most preseason shortlists to possibly dethrone two-time champ Las Vegas, but early-season injuries have seen those hopes dashed somewhat.

The Lady Wings enter this clash with the Los Angeles Sparks, hoping to end a three-game losing streak. Dallas is coming off a 14-point home loss to the Aces in a matchup that was closer than the outcome with a good get-right spot tonight against the struggling Sparks.

What the Wings have decided to do in Natasha Howard's absence is to hit the offensive glass and outscore their opponents. Dallas will dominate both ends of the glass tonight and outscore the low-scoring Sparks.

The Wings are the league's best defensive rebounding side, and they eat on the offensive glass as well; Dallas ranks second in offensive boards (12.3) and edged out the Sparks 16-10 on the offensive glass in their previous meeting.

The offensive rebounds and WNBA second-leading scorer Arike Ogumbowale will help spark the Dallas offense against the league’s 10th-best scoring defense. The Wings’ scoring should overcome their own leaky defense that gets a boost against the Sparks' 10th-ranked scoring offense that’s failed to net more than 73 in any of their last three.

Ogumbowale’s 0-8 stinker and team-wide 17% shooting from downtown made their previous encounter (84-83) much closer than the outcome revealed. Dallas is a bad 3-point shooting team, but 17% is clearly an outlier. L.A. is ninth at defending the 3-point arc, and the Wings are a better shooting team from downtown (30%) than what they displayed in May. Look for Dallas to own both ends of the glass, hit more of their triples, and outscore the low-scoring Sparks tonight.

Wings vs Sparks same-game parlay (SGP)

Wings -2.5

Arike Ogumbowale Over 2.5 threes made

Dearica Hamby 15+ points

Ogumbowale laid a 0-8 stinker from downtown when these teams last met, but that had more to do with her than her opponents. The WNBA’s second-leading scorer has drained at least three triples in three of her last five, and the Sparks are 10th in defensive three-point percentage.

Dallas is currently a defense-optional group, and Sparks forward Dearica Hamby has been a bright spot for a bad L.A. offense. The 30-year-old forward is averaging 20 points per night with 15 or more points in all nine of her contests.
