Jake Paul steps into the ring looking for win No. 8 — and his first against a true boxer — when he faces off against Andre August tonight in a cruiserweight tilt from the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.
Paul is not wavering from his desire to win a world title, but first, he has to prove he can beat a classically trained boxer. Boxing odds favor the crossover star at -650, and August must make the most of his unlikely shot in the spotlight as a +425 underdog.

Jake Paul vs Andre August boxing prediction and best bet
Prediction: Jake Paul ML
Jake Paul wants to be taken seriously as a boxer, so he must beat one. He fell short against Tommy Fury, so he reverted to what worked by roughing up a faded MMA legend in Nate Diaz. While Paul is a man of his word, August has been plucked from obscurity to give Paul a token win.
To his credit, Paul is a decent talent with good fundamentals and punching power. He doesn’t loop his shots, throws a dagger of a right hand, and has more than held his own against athletes who have been fighting their entire careers.
The Diaz fight was a personnel realignment as Paul returned to Theo Chambers and Shane Mosley as trainers, and it paid off with a dominant win.
August is a 35-year-old who recently ended four years of inactivity. The quality of opposition he’s faced pales in comparison to Paul. Before his inactivity, it was clear his ceiling wouldn’t be that high as he previously suffered a knockout loss to a now 7-16 fighter in Eric Abraham.
With August being brought on more as a tune-up for Paul ahead of a potential rematch with Fury next year, this should be a by-the-book performance by Paul that results in another victory.
Prediction: Jake Paul moneyline (-650 at FanDuel)
Best bet: Jake Paul by KO/TKO/DQ
This fight seems to be in the bag for Paul. August should provide Paul something to work with and see how he’ll measure up against a properly trained fighter, regardless of their questionable skill level. Paul’s recent activity and August’s struggles coming up the ranks make this an easy fight to call.
August is a relentless attack who throws wide hooks and continuously comes forward. His power seems to be his best asset, but he leaves himself open after every punch and fights in a manner where his shots will be less effective as his cardio begins to wane.
If Paul keeps his hands up, uses his jab to secure the distance, and avoids getting pinned on the ropes, he’ll find a big enough opening for a right-hand counter that could end things.
Expect Paul to get August’s timing down and start digging in with body shots to drain his opponent’s resolve. As August continues to press, Paul will move forward and catch him with a booming shot that will put him down and out at any point beyond the third round.
Prediction: Jake Paul by KO/TKO/DQ (+290 at FanDuel)

Jake Paul vs Andre August betting preview
Paul continues his controversial run as one of boxing’s premier performers. Though he fell short against rival Fury, he bounced back against Diaz last August in a commanding win. He’s taken down premier MMA stars like Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley, but he's yet to defeat a boxer in his eight-fight career.
August stepped away from the sport in 2019 but came back into the fold with a win over Brandon Martin over the summer. A former amateur standout and two-time Golden Gloves champion, August is a hard swinger looking to reignite his stagnant career.
The younger and taller Paul has been receiving world-class training since his professional debut, and it's not impossible to imagine him evolving into a potential title contender in the desolate cruiserweight division. August has more professional fights than Paul, however, the totality of his opponents' records comes out to 34-65-6.
