My best bet

My analysis
The Montreal Alouettes have kicked off their Grey Cup title defense in style by winning three straight games to begin the year, something the organization hadn't accomplished since 2011.

Not only is the Alouettes' suffocating defense allowing just 17.6 points per game, but quarterback Cody Fajardo has started to break out in his second season under the tutelage of offensive coordinator Anthony Calvillo.

Finishing 2023 with a TD/INT ratio of 15/12, Fajardo has started the 2024 season completing 73.1% of his attempts for 305 passing yards per game while turning the ball over just once.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Argonauts have done their part to cover up for the absence of reigning MOP winner Chad Kelly. In the QB's place, Cameron Dukes has been highly efficient, leading Toronto to a 2-0 start by completing 81% of his passing attempts, with 5 touchdowns thrown and not a single interception on his resume.

The glaring difference between these two undefeated squads, however, lies on defense. The Alouettes limited the Blue Bombers to just 12 points in their season opener, held Edmonton's pass-happy attack to 20 the following week, and led Ottawa 30-1 at halftime in Week 3.

On the other hand, the Argos defense allowed Vernon Adams Jr. to pass for 363 yards in their Week 1 home opener against BC and gave up 336 through the air to McLeod-Bethel Thompson in their narrow 39-36 win over Edmonton. I expect Montreal's balance on both sides of the ball to reign supreme as the Als successfully cover the spread for the third time in four weeks.

Alouettes vs Argonauts same-game parlay (SGP)

Alouettes -3.5

Tyson Philpot Over 79.5 receiving yards

Tyson Philpot anytime touchdown

Tyson Philpot has replaced Austin Mack as the clear No. 1 WR for the Alouettes this season, having already been targeted 37 times through three games. Last year's Most Valuable Canadian in the Grey Cup enters Week 4 with 340 receiving yards, trailing only BC’s Alexander Hollins.

The 23-year-old wideout is also tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns (3), and now faces an Argos defense that has given up six passing touchdowns in just two games.
