With the playoffs just two weeks away, the postseason picture is already settled for both the Montreal Alouettes and BC Lions. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a betting edge to be found ahead of Saturday night’s battle in Vancouver.

With Vernon Adams Jr. looking to cement himself as BC's starter in the postseason and Davis Alexander playing well under center for Montreal, my Alouettes vs. Lions predictions expect both offenses to move the chains.

My analysis

Although Vernon Adams Jr. has attempted just seven passes over the BC Lions' last eight games, Nathan Rourke's struggles were enough for head coach Rick Campbell to make the switch at quarterback for their Week 20 matchup against the Montreal Alouettes

It's easy to forget that Adams was spearheading CFL MOP odds at one point, as the former Oregon product was the league leader in both passing yards and passing touchdowns entering Week 9. However, Adams and the Leos hit a wall by losing five straight, and when the dual-threat pivot went down with a knee injury on August 2, BC made the call to sign Nathan Rourke after his release from the NFL.

Following Rourke leading BC to a disappointing 3-5 record with a 4-9 TD/INT ratio, Adams will look to prove that he should be under center once the playoffs arrive. I expect Adams to let his "Big Play VA" moniker come alive, being aggressive down the field while Montreal's offense plays catch up.

Despite the Leos' offense struggles, Adams boasted 330+ passing yards in five of his eight starts this season. The receiving corps also remains loaded — featuring CFL yards leader Justin McInnis, former Minnesota Vikings wideout Alexander Hollins, and 2023 All-Star Keion Hatcher.

Meanwhile, the Alouettes have first place in the East locked up, with the defending Grey Cup champs set to host the Eastern Final for the first time since 2012. At this point, the Als will focus on staying healthy over their final two regular season games, with HC Jason Maas opting to start backup QB Davis Alexander on Saturday.

The Montreal quarterback has held his own in five appearances this season, possessing a 107.9 passer rating and stringing together three straight wins in August when starter Cody Fajardo was injured. Alexander should continue to be effective on Saturday, facing a Leos defense that is both banged up and allowing a league-worst 73.9% completion percentage to opposing QBs.

Bank on a high-scoring track meet inside BC Place.

Lions moneyline

With markets limited due to playoff seeding being locked in for each team, we'll have to settle with picking a side.

The Lions have been in a freefall since starting the season 5-1, so a win heading into the Western Semi-Final is crucial for BC to regain some momentum.

They already got the best of the Als back in Week 14, prevailing 37-23 at Percival Molson Stadium. As -130 favorites, let's back BC to create a nice little multiplier for our best bet.
