Argonauts vs Redblacks Prediction, Picks & Odds for Week 14

Toronto's offense has seen a huge passing resurgence thanks to the return of Chad Kelly, and we expect the Argonauts quarterback to keep it going in the nation's capital on Saturday.

Although the Toronto Argonauts are coming off a tough Labor Day defeat at the hands of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Argos offense has found new life with Chad Kelly back under center.

Find out why the reigning MOP winner headlines our Argonauts vs. Redblacks predictions, as the former Mississippi star will continue to rack up the passing yards in our CFL picks for Saturday, September 7.

Argonauts vs Redblacks prediction

My best bet
Chad Kelly Over 295.5 passing yards (-114 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Last season saw quarterback Chad Kelly take the CFL by storm, throwing for 4,000+ yards with a 109.6 passer rating, as the Toronto Argonauts finished the season with a dominating 16-2 record.

The NFL's former "Mr. Irrelevant" was subsequently named CFL MOP, and it looked like he would be the face of the league for years to come. However, that took a turn during the latest offseason when Kelly was suspended nine regular-season games for violating the league's gender-based violence policy.

The Argos offense kicked off 2024 mired in a slump, with backup Cameron Dukes failing to eclipse 300 passing yards in any start, and Toronto holding a mediocre 5-4 record. With Kelly returning in Week 12, Toronto's offense has seen an immediate boost in production, scoring 31 points in a win over Saskatchewan, followed by 28 in its latest field goal loss to Hamilton.

Kelly has surpassed 300+ passing yards in both of those contests, yet FanDuel has him listed at 295.5 for Saturday's clash against the Ottawa Redblacks

Considering Ottawa's offense is starting to fire on all cylinders (averaging 26.4 points over its last five games) while simultaneously allowing a 68% completion percentage to opposing QBs, I expect a high-scoring affair that will result in another pass-heavy game script for Kelly.

Argonauts vs Redblacks same-game parlay (SGP)

Chad Kelly Over 295.5 passing yards

Over 51.5

With Toronto's offense gaining traction with Kelly under center and Ottawa's offense eclipsing 30+ points in three out of their last five games, I'm expecting another high-scoring affair between these two Ontario rivals.

The Redblacks offense is much more complete than in years past, with QB Dru Brown spearheading a unit that features dynamic running back Ryquel Armstead (averaging 5.0 yards per carry), plus former NFL wideout Justin Hardy, who ranks second in league receiving yards with 853.
