The Toronto Argonauts head to Mosaic Stadium to battle the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 7 of CFL action on Friday night.

The Argos will try to build on their momentum from last weekend's victory against Hamilton, but won't find it easy against a talented Roughriders squad smarting from back-to-back defeats. CFL betting lines opened with the Riders as 5-point favorites before shifting to -3.5 by Tuesday morning.

Here are our best free Argonauts vs. Roughriders picks and predictions for Friday, September 17, with kickoff at 9:45 p.m. ET.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Roughriders began the season with a perfect 3-0 mark and jumped to the top of the Grey Cup futures odds board but after getting stomped in consecutive weeks by the defending champion Blue Bombers, they got a reality check. The Riders lost 23-8 at home in Week 5 before falling 33-9 last week, and to add injury to insult, they lost quarterback Cody Fajardo in the third quarter.

Fajardo suffered a mild concussion after taking a big hit and while his status for Friday was up in the air he has passed all medical tests and is now listed as the starter.

The Argonauts opened the season with a last-minute victory over the Stampeders and have since split home-and-away contests against the Blue Bombers and Tiger-Cats. In Week 6, the Argos edged the Ti-Cats 17-16 at BMO Field just four days after losing by 13 points in Hamilton.

Argos coach Ryan Dinwiddie stuck with new quarterback Nick Arbuckle in Week 6 despite a subpar performance on Labor Day. While that vote of confidence resulted in a win, Arbuckle didn't really play any better, and he has now averaged just 6.4 yards per pass attempt with a pair of touchdowns and four interceptions over his last two games. He won't find it easy to move the ball against a strong Saskatchewan stop-unit that allows just 333 yards per game.

The Roughriders are always a tough opponent in Regina while the Argos are just 11-24-1 ATS in their last 36 games on the road and got stomped in Hamilton and Winnipeg in recent weeks. With the Roughriders 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games as a favorite, bet on them to win and cover as they bounce back from a couple of ugly losses.

PREDICTION: Saskatchewan -4 (-110)

Over/Under pick

Injuries have been piling up for the Argos defense but they are starting to get some terrific play from former NFL players Shawn Oakman and Eli Harold on their defensive line. Toronto ranks second in the league in yards allowed per game with 318.8 and has cashed the Under in four of their last five games on the road.

We mentioned that Arbuckle hasn't done a great job of attacking downfield and much of Toronto's success on offense has been predicated on whether or not they can get their running game going. Unfortunately, they'll be facing off against a stout Riders run defense that allows the fewest yards per carry (4.2) in the league and the second-fewest rushing yards per game (72.6).

Saskatchewan has one of the CFL's best front fours with defensive tackle Micah Johnson occupying blockers so Jonathan Woodard, A.C. Leonard, and Garrett Marino can wreak havoc. The Riders lead the league with 16 sacks and tend to really get going when they have the support of the raucous home crowd at Mosaic Stadium. With the Under cashing in six of Saskatchewan's last seven games at home, back it again on Friday night.

PREDICTION: Under 42.5 (-110)
